I always had this idea of renting a cheap apartment in various destinations and always 'being away on business' but actually being back at home doing the regular 9 to 5 job. You'd have a lived in place, your photo's on the wall and not some hotel. I've got nothing against Manila and still enjoy going there and other places in the PI but am open to exploring new areas as well.

I had good luck in the DR, others not so much. Like most places you need to do a little homework first, look at the specific forum here and read back many pages to get a feeling for the local scene and then go accordingly.

Haven't been to Dubai for a few years but that was good there as well. Always stayed at the LE Meridian Airport and pulled from Jules Bar on site. It was expensive accommodations but I was on a company expense account. Girls more than here and lots of Asians but a good mix of Russian and others. Stay away from all Africans there, lots of bad reports on scams from that demographic. Be careful of LE, don't be obvious outside the hotel area and do not get drunk in public.

I was in Dubai recently and the quality was poor but prices up. Maybe some you can find in Abu Dhabi but generally I was yearning for the old days when KG and I were both there.
