My last visit to China was in April.

This time when I arrived at Shanghai / Pudong airport I found that they were now requiring all arrivees to be fingerprinted.

Then upon checking into the hotel, the staff is required to take your photo. Which is attached to the documentation with your passport. I visited a couple other hotels (including the Westin) and they were also photographing customers upon check-in.

I had to make a rare visit to Pudong earlier today. Out for a lunchtime walk near the Doubletree Hilton, I spotted three MPs actively touting for business, either in the street outside, or just inside, the entrance of their establishments. Judging by the way these ladies were dressed, it's pretty clear that there was more than a back rub on offer. I didn't have time to confirm this, but I have to say, it's been a couple of years at least since I've seen such open advertising anywhere in Shanghai. Could things finally be lightening up?

Based on my visits to random MPs for past 6-7 months, I would say that roughly two-thirds of MP places offer more than back rub. If you want to up the odds, when you walk into an MP, just ask for a pretty girl. They will get the message. One time, the manager understood my meaning and took me aside and told me there was no happy massage at their place, and so I walked out. Another way to up the odds is to pick the most expensive massage on the menu. One time, I picked the 336 option, and the mamasan whispered to me that I probably want the 398 off-menu option, and, well, I am glad that I took her suggestion.

Are you looking for a formal channel, like a website? You may try sites that offer arrangements. I did that for a couple of years. You can read about my experiences with it on the Singapore forum under the seeking arrangement thread title. In short, I don't do it anymore because it is a pain in the ass, and there is also the usual drama that often comes with any mistress or GF. Otherwise, just go to fancy bars and pick up a girl, or just ask out a girl that you already know and like. I also did this, mostly when I first moved to China many years ago. Just make sure they know you are married. Er nai (mistress) is common in China. When I first moved to China, it was weird having so many GFs. But I guess these Chinese girls are used to guys (with some money) having many GFs and mistresses. And many like to be those gals. But, keep in mind that the usual hassles of having either a mistress or a GF also applies to Chinese girls, obviously. Finally, you might also try MPs. I am pretty friendly with a few MP gals, and I have discussed mistress arrangements with them, and I am still thinking about it. Despite the drama that I have experienced with mistresses and GFs in the past, I am wondering if my being an anonymous John to my mistress may make things turn out better, but still contemplating it.

By the way, for those who say that it doesn't get rolling at Judy's until midnight or 2, that just isn't so. I routinely go at a bit after 9:00. Last night there were at least 20 or so to choose from.

I live in Shanghai since 10 years. If you have been to J&M more than 2 years ago, then be prepared for the following changes:

* under 2000/ LT the ladies will ignore you, at least till 3 am.

* the old party times are gone. Since the Vietnamese took over, step by step J&M became pure contact locations; it is all about "how much" and immediate "you take me hotel?"

* the majority of men now are Chinese as their other fun places have been closed down (by the way: they are the reason for the increased pricing).

I personally go there very rarely now (while it was my center of enjoyment a few years ago). The good times are gone.

I can also confirm that Manhattan and Judy's were still there when I was there in early September.

I was at both clubs this past weekend. Many more fish then fishermen due to the local holidays.

Manhattan was closed for approx 3 months late 2017/ early 2018. It was open last time I was in Shanghai at end of September. Unless something has changed in 2 weeks, still open and operating the same business model.
