I tried and I find the biggest issue with the information in this forum is that it is all in a single giant thread making it hard to find things. I tried searching, but the search doesn't seem to work well, especially for things like acronyms as they are too short to be searched. Finally, when I do find something potentially relevant, the post could be from 2011 or even older making me unsure if the info is relevant for today.

Does that make sense or am I overthinking things?

If you RTFF about 10-15 pages of Tokyo and Osaka ISG forum you will find enough information. I did same and had great time in Tokyo and Osaka. After reading the FF, it seems like mongering in Japan is difficult for us foreigners.
