I will be returning to Brazil the first week in January (big smile on my face), my first trip was to Rio in 2016 this trip I will be visiting Sao Paulo may go to Rio for one night. Can anyone provide me with names and address for clinicas and boates in the city. I will be staying at the Grand Hyatt so will be using uber and metros. Thanks for any help.

I have lived in both Rio and SP. The "termas" are only in Rio but IMO the distinction is really a big deal about nothing unless you are really into taking a sauna. Otherwise, the only real difference is that in the termas the men change into a bathrobe and then hang out in the "bar" in their bathrobe. I cannot recall if the girls in the termas in Rio are still allowed to wear bikinis or not. Once upon a time the girls in the SP boates could wear bikinis but then they were forced to wear evening dress. I honestly don't recall if Rio termas still wear bikinis. I stopped noticing the differences be / t the termas and the boates after about the 2nd visit. The first time its a bit of a rush to wear a robe, it feels like a throwback to ancient Rome. But its really not a big deal. The termas in Rio are much smaller than the big boates in SP, the biggest termas 4 x 4 is probably 1/5 the size of scandalo or less. Scandalo is just huge. The termas are a bit cheaper though.

In summary, I would not go to Rio just to experience the "termas". I would go to Rio for other reasons, like wanting to see Rio, the beach, or because I wanted to see more mulatas, Rio tends to have more women of color.

Rovnak, you are absolutely right, I also lived in Rio and SP, the Termas in Rio de Janeiro lost a lot as regarded to garotas.

But I have to admite that there are more and better mulatas in Rio.

I like more the CLínicas like Tangara in SP and BEL PRAZER In Rio.

OH thank you about the termas! I saw a few in Sampa but after your post I did further reading and discovered that they were gay hangouts.

As for Moema and Jardins, - I am very interested in the clinicas, not so much in the clubs. I understand there are many clinicas in Moema area, would that be best? I also found a hotel near Paraiso subway. Is that area much worse for walking and mongering? I'd hate to feel like I'm stuck in my hotel.

Paraiso is okay, but if it's not mentioned it's likely not a ideal location. Read the comment string I cited first. It was a very good (sometimes heated LOL) exchange that covers the things to think about when choosing a SP location.

While Jardim Paulista (in Jardins) might be hotel-centric with higher rates and Moema (many clinicas) has few hotel options, AirBnB makes all these neighborhoods available at reasonable rates. Uber and the subways bring these places closer so you can stay in one and easily visit another. A member recently discussed Itaim Bibi which is an area with plenty of restaurants and nightlife.

Since you jumped into a Sao Paulo thread asking about Puerto Vallarta without doing much research, I'm guessing you don't have a lot of patience for reading the forum. However, this comment string will (comments #8871-8902) answer a lot of questions.

A forum member recently stayed at the Moema Times Square in Moema and I am pretty sure he was fine with it. There is no shortage of Hotels in Moema, I know of at least 5 clustered around the Moema Metro station. Some visitors have complained about airplane noise. That may be a showstopper for some. But if that is not a concern then there are multiple hotel options. I personally stayed at the Mercure Times Square for over a month 10 years ago and I never noticed any plane noise at all while I was in the building.

Bars like this are another option in the SP scene. ABG took me to Chanes, which is a similar scene. I was pretty shagged out so I didn't take anyone but there were good doable prospects. An introduction to the real SP, which you can't reallysay about the boites.

I do a lot of reading and I jumped into a Sao Paolo thread after first reading several Mexican and Colombian threads, as well as Panama, Ecuador, and smaller countries. What's difficult for me is to conceptualize the general "spirit" of the places without first being there (for example, it's a huge effort for me to even think about warm clothes if traveling from +20 c to +5 c, or from 0 c to +25 c. I've traveled much, I know what those temperature ranges feel like, but it's still very difficult to pack a warm coat when I don't feel like it).

So a senior member's perspective is invaluable because someone who has been to Mexico, Columbia, Buenos Aires, and Sao Paulo could very easily just "get" what I am looking for and "know" if it's here or not. Kinda like asking a tribe's elder for advice.

Yes I am reading through that comment string. Basically I've already made a decision to go to SP (thanks for all the responses! I got my tickets and visa, I'll be there around the New Year so I have that time to read through and prepare.

Also if you are going to be in SP around that time, I'd love to treat you to lunch / coffee / anything non-alcoholic.

P.S. I forgot to mention Espao Vergueiro on Av. Vergueiro 170,very close to the so Joaquim metr, it's a bar and they have 5 rooms for the action, open from 3 pm til 3 am. The place belongs to a Chinese Brasilian, speaks perfec Enlglish, least time I was there I saw around 12 girls.

The place has a bar and drinks are sold for honest prices.

Best time to arrive around 9 pm.

The name of the owner is Willian and the manager is Raissa, hostesses are Letcia and Carla.

Paraso station is a less sofisticsted neighborhood than Jardins and Moema. That's why the hotels are cheaper.

Buts nothing wrong with the rea, you can go by metro till Ana Rosa station there you are close to Red Way, Yankin and Tangara. You can also comute to the Green Line and get down at Consolao, rua Augusta is in a walking distance. If you want to go to Moema just take the Green Line towards Vila Prudente, get down at Chcara Klabin and comute to the new line to Moema and Brooklin. Fell free to pm me if you need more information.

It's also smart to walk where there are many people.

That is key. And If you're going to walk around where there aren't a lot of people, do it during the day.

This is common sense in any big city.

Remember you aren't as much of a target as you feel you are. They see tourists every day. There are millions of middle class Paulistas. They are as concerned about their safety as you do about yours. Outside of a 1 km radius from my place I took Uber everywhere but felt totally comfortable walking around even late in the evening in Itami Bibi. One day I walked from the Hilton to clinica Brooklin for exercise but I'm not sure I'd do it at night. It's not a particularly bad area but there weren't a lot of others around.

Today I went to Tangara, 9 new girls arrived today from BH, Kiara, Isis, Luara, and Lua are the best looking and best performance IMO.

I checked Cafe Photo, and picked up a cutie from there, actually I ended up picking her friend as well for a 3-some. I found Cafe Photo a bit more formal and more stuffy. I much prefer Scandallo. I have yet to check out Bomboa and Casarấo.
