This politician is morbidly obese and would weigh around 330 lbs. There is no way a white Caucasian woman in Australia would have dated him. So it seems he has been going to AC for a number of years for playtime. He finally found the love of his life in a karaoke bar and proposed to her. To further legitimise his trips to AC, he engineered a meeting with the RSL (Australian military veterans) based in AC to raise money for wheelchairs or some shit like that.

He hasn't done anything wrong and the trips have been on his own tab, so I hope he survives.

How does everyone else handle smears like this? Once one is a frequent flyer to SE Asia, one gets called all kinds of unmentionable things. I was going to ask this question separately but here is an Ossie politician getting this type of flak. And he is not the first.

The two most recent cases of Oz politicians caught having fun in Asia are at the far end of the spectrum. This guy is likely to survive because he's played it as a regular girlfriend who is doing Gods work. She just happens to be in Asia. The other took the high moral ground on gay marriage and other family matters then used some taxpayers money to visit his SA sugar baby in Singapore. All this while he was happily married. For good measure he documented the whole process with some graphic emails and smses that she has now given to a gossip magazine. He was gone posted haste.

Flying to SE Asia leavers us open to all kinds of abuse. Lonely Planet has a very low opinion of us and backpackers think they are morally superior to us. It seems OK to waste one's time visiting tourist traps in Europe but if you go to SE Asia toi drink cheap beer, scuba dive and give women young enough to be your daughter or now, in my case and others, grand daughter, you are be-A-the.

All that is needed, as in the case of this politician, is someone to have it in for you and you might end up in some serious doo doo.

I've always been a huge fan of flying under the radar and plausible denial.

Being a keen traveler with nice FB posts of photos of scuba diving, beaches and interesting temples is received totally differently to posting photos of getting smashed for a fortnight in AC and Patts. The ultimate prize is to score a job that actually pays you to visit or live in these areas and provides excellent cover.

In most cases everyone knows what's going on but choose to turn a blind eye to things that are not too confronting.

There is also the H&W Delicatessen in Korean town that carries the ham you are looking for. It costs more there but it is closer than S&R. Fil-Am Friendship highway, ground floor. 0905.891. 4600. Opens 08:30 to 20:00.

They have a great selection of imported sausages and ham. And a vast selection of wine.

Turn left on friendship from perimeter road, where newer and cleaner Jollibee is and half a click on the left. Happy eating!

You can buy it fresh at S&are Membership. They have stores in Manila, Dau, Cebu and other cities. I believe you are talking about ham or Canadian Bacon. I buy it there and a loaf of white bread with mayonnaise. You can buy small packets of mayo at family mart.

I make sandwiches when I have 2-3 girls in the room to build our energy up again.

Unfortunately I'm already in country on a multi stop trip so keeping my stash fresh might be difficult. For a stop and stay trip it's a no brainer.

In my four trips to Philippines I have always had nuced bacon burnt to a crisp. That's in Manila, Subic, Cebu & Sabang. Just like that dam Cabonara with spaghetti. WTF its fettuccine you dumb arses!

But really bacon is one of your deal breakers. You MUST really like your bacon.

I'm trying to decide between Christmas in Angeles or Subic.
A deal breaker question to all the Aussies out there is can I get decent bacon in Angeles? I'm talking the real, full rash, 1/8" thick, eye in delicacy. Not the incinerated in Chernobyl, cast off, biohazard that our American friends so enjoy. 😁.
Anyone with info, please do the right thing and help a mate out.
