Hi All, this is the age old battle that I deal with and that is CDN vs USD. I was wondering if anyone on the ground knew what the current rate was for CDN and USD from Jennys. I normally go to Jennys to change the cash and looking at some of the currency sites it seems that CDN is about 37.8 dop and USD is closer to 50 dop. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks for the info, I definitely will keep this thing quiet and will be using this for my trip in about 3 weeks. The roundtrip looks sweet, but I will just need it on my POP arrival. But I would have liked to see how the return trip works out since the taxi mafia patrols BB's.

If yes, there is a pharmacy across the street from Jenny supermarket near the main gates of Costambar. Generics are DOP 50 per pill, originals are about DOP 500.

You can also buy rubbers and enhancers at the front desk.

So the last 5-6 times I have been to BB's I have rented a car for my trips (knock on wood no accidents and only day time driving). I wanted to ask is there a specific Publico or bus that goes from the airport to the road that leads down to BB's and then maybe walk the 2 k that it takes to get to BB's. Thanks.

The nearest would be the route "C" guagua which runs along the main highway. So you would have to walk to the highway from the airport and walk from the highway to Blackbeards. A lot of walking especially if warm or raining (and it is usually one or the other in the DR). To add insult to injury, the "C" guaguas are relatively infrequent (every 20 to 30 minutes) and incredibly slow. So I would forget that option.

I am a real tight-ass but I would bite the bullet and take a taxi from the airport if I had any sort of baggage.

A cheap option if nothing to carry: walk to the main highway (about half a mile). Catch a publico to the Hospital in Puerto Plata. Catch a "JC" publico to the main gate of Costambar. (The JCs run about every 20 to 30 minutes and cease around 6 pm). Then take a moto to Blackbeards. But even I would forget all that and take a taxi.
