I have been to Rio during the summer months, June thru September, many times. It does not get cold, and folks still go to the beach, except when it's raining. I used to dress in summer clothes, T-shirt and jeans, even when it was raining.

I have been there 3 times this year on the low. I met some really nice ladies that I assume are semi pro. Each would stay with me for 3 days and I pay room and board for about 160 $ us without asking. Total GFE I don't speak Portuguese but we had fun. Being recently single I really want to go to Argentina and Brazil in the first half of 2019. I can't go after this because of personal reasons (I might be in another serious relationship, just a gut feeling). So being a bit a nerd, I really wanted to see the Total Solar Eclipse from Argentina on 2nd July 2019. There's a Contiki for Buenos Aires to Rio de Janeiro from 1-9 July, and being 35, the cutoff age, I thought this would be a good idea to see the eclipse and experience a Contiki at the same time.

However, since I can't be as "single and free" as I can be after this, I am really thinking about it from a boys trip perspective and want to enjoy seeing the beautiful Brazilian girls dressed up nicely in summer clothes and on the beach. July would be winter so I don't want to miss out on this and would therefore consider going earlier this year. This would mean I'd miss the eclipse but enjoy the holiday the way I want to. And there will be more eclipses to chase in my lifetime.

So what I would like to ask is:

- Do the girls dress up the same in winter as they do in summer given the tropical climate?

- When do the people of Rio de Janeiro start wearing winter clothes in the year?

- Is it advisable to go during the Carnival? (I'm thinking inflated prices and overcrowding. I will be visiting the termas as well so I'm considering inflated service prices).

- Is it advisable to go during Lent? (I'm thinking might the girls be more conservative during this period).

Rio doesn't get that cold during their Winter (Jun. Aug). It's generally not beach weather like in Jan / Feb, but a parka won't be necessary. Buenos Aires on the other hand -- you'll definitely need a warm jacket.

Lent is fine in Brasil. The only day I'd worry about lack of available women is Good Friday.

Hookers have to eat and pay rent regardless if it is Lent or not. They don't really change up clothes. They just put on a jacket if it is cold and nobody goes to the beach. (Not sure what type of clothes you are thinking people wear.).

So far no access. I'm patient I understand insurgency has its risks. Been staying up to date on all the posts last couple weeks. Thank you all that contributed and a few of you that made me laugh! Does anyone know if this hotel has reopened? I think it closed around 2016 due to the financial crisis but I saw some reference to it a couple of months ago. It was always a good option for punters leaving Mabs or Kalabria.
