Uhhh. Maybe I am a bit new at this. But why would he give her more when she is fine with what he is giving her? He gave her 2500 for long time. Maybe your norm is getting you ripped off. Well I am home back in the cold weather wishing I was still there. Just to follow up from my original thread. I felt that if she thought I was not being fare or cheap she would not reach out to me again or could have even asked for more. She actually bought some drinks and smokes for me when I went back to her place. Like the other guy mention, they live in shacks with nothing. I have seen a lot of things, but watching a women make you dinner on a propane camping stove and open a can with a knife was pretty impressive. All this while sitting on a bucket because there is no furniture other then a bed she shares with a GF. And again all this without running water. Most of the money she has she sends home or buy her a few nice things like clothes. She doesn't have a lot friends in the area and they all seem share their resources like money food etc. Over the course of the week we spent a lot of time together and more freaky freaky then I can count, and I would say I spent maybe around 200 us. Including some shoes she picked out and gave me change. She also looked out for me a few nights were I got really tipsy and had money hanging out of my pocket, she pointed it out and stuffed it back in my pocket. I agree that Dominicans have to struggle with very hard living conditions, but I respectfully disagree that a father pimping his small daughter is what "he had to do."

Most Dominicans, poor as they are, love their children dearly, and would do anything before pimping them at such an early age. I know of chicas whose daughters have entered the sex trade, but at a legal age, and of their own free will. Aside from the legal issue, a 7 year old girl is totally under the control of her parents and does not have the free will for such a decision. A father who would pimp a small girl destroys the father-daughter relationship forever, which is one of life's few precious things. A father who would do that is scum. I have read of parents in some parts of the world who sell their daughters, often into the sex trade, but when one ponders that a bit, that is also hard to understand. One would have to be starving, and I don't think conditions in the DR reach that level.

I hope the father gets a good stiff sentence. Its pretty clear he wasn't contributing much to the support of his family, and they may well do better without him.

I further hope there are fellow prisoners who can teach him "first hand" what a sex worker has to endure.

In my limited experience, when you show kindness -- get ready to hear never-ending love serenades, tear-jerking stories about relatives with terminal illnesses, debts that need to be settled ASAP (or else!), looming home evictions, and whatever other tricks they might have in the book. 99.9% of these stories are lies. As shy and sweetheart girls get hardened, as they inevitably will, the peer pressure about treating stupid gringos as 24/7 ATMs will get to them, too. And they can be incredibly good at this. Sophisticated even!
