Where the hell to you apply for such a visa? I just completed the application on this website: https://www.ugandavisa.org/en.

Now I find out that I paid 119 euros instead of 50 USD. This website says "we have no affiliation with the department of immigration of Uganda".

There seems to be dozens of half official websites selling Ugandan visas. I fell for it like a newbie. I hope my forthcoming trip doesn't start with a scam.

I had 4 days to spend so had started planning 2 weeks before. I chose Hotel Acacia in Kabalagala, good location and neat hotel. Did you fly already? Did you travel with one-way ticket without return flight, and was there any problems?

Ethiopian airlines will not take you to the plane if you don't have return ticket from your destination, or flight to somewhere else, I have experienced this many times.

Once I had problems in Tanzania, Dar es Salaam. In the immigration some high officer forced me to buy (expensive) fly ticket to other country, flight was some weeks later. Otherwise he would not have left me in the country. I did not used that flight because I went to some other African country at the end.

If you travel with one-way flight, go to airport in time in case your airline demand return ticket or later connecting flight. Then you have time to buy some ticket, maybe cancel it later, or change return date.

If you manage to travel to Kenya with one way ticket, please report, maybe I would like to do same.

By the way, Nairobi is in little higher altitude, that is why it is not so hot as Mombasa and DAR. That is probably reason why so many people live there. Addis Abeba is even higher place.

I also bought a one way ticket but it was only to Addis. When I bought a flight to Nairobi Ethiopian also made me buy a return ticket.

I probably won't be flying with them again.
