Really? No, average family gets by with 5-7000 per month. A grocery girl gets around 8000 per month. Do not be fooled by the way girls look and act. Most generally live in plywood shacks but they dress and conduct themselves with elegance. Their struggle for money is a daily one. Family knows where to buy cheap food. They cannot afford to to picky about what they eat.

Only people who live well are the people who have businesses and peopywho worked outside the country like shipping.

Personnaly I have an example, not reflecting any average salary, just an example, a girl which I know since several years, in Makati, employed by a local expat above 70 yo, has a salary of 15 k / month.

I think this should be a good salary, above usual salaries from local employers.

Most people have no idea the cost of living in a monger destination. Tell a trick that it is ONLY 50 K, then he is thinking about what 50 K will buy back home and rushing to save her.

Salaries are generally quoted in monthly terms. I don't think she was referring to that as an annual salary. Not many Pinays can multiply or divide by 12. An hour later, she will post on line photos of the meal she is having with her friend - shrimps, scallops, a big grilled fish and whole heap of vegetables, washed down with cocktails. Enough to feed six people. She and her friend will eat a few mouthfuls and then leave most of it behind. I'm sure such a feast would have cost about 3,000PHP.

As a college educated, junior receptionist at a hotel or a junior F&B assistant, she knows the salary is going to be very low. I just don't know why she would be telling the world about a totally false salary range, and then complain that she can't survive on 70K a month.

As with anything in the Philippines, nothing ever makes any sense and there is no proper reason for anything.

She does mean 50-70 k a YEAR. Basic expenses would be just rice and cheap canned sardines and maybe some veggies.

20 k a month is NOT the average salary. Average salary is less than 10 k a month. Working in a voice call center is one of the higher paying jobs starting out around 12-15 k a month. Good and experience ones would make 20 k plus a month. Very few graduates would qualify to work in a call center.

That lady needs a dozen sponsors as 70 k only takes care of her basic expenses. God be with the good old days when hookers used simple passwords like 1234567 and we could read their emails and stand agog at the huge amounts they asked their sponsors. I remember one clued in Yank telling me he wanted to be reincarnated as a hooker as the money and hours were so good.
