It has been a time since anyone posted on Miari RLD. BUt it is still going strong and I have been an occasional visitor lately as other area get shut down.

The advice from older posts is still good:

Take the Line 4 to the north and exit the train at Gireum station. It is the 4th station after Dongdaemun.

It should also be obvious from Google maps where it is located using Google maps. Look for the rabbit warren streets near the subway.

Take exit 10 and the entrance to Miari RLD is right 10 m to the right behind the 'flying curtain'.

Actually there are tons of entrances and maybe about close on 100 establishments inside.

Some actually front onto the main street and are not in the RLD and I get waved in there too.

The ATMs near the metro entrance have stopped taking my credit card (all the NICE ones and more) and last time I had to walk far to the far east of Miari to find a store with a machine outside that did the business.

Some of the shops might not wave you in and that is ok. There will be tons of mama-san that will ask if you want HJ or sex etc. Just explore the area. Don't worry. You will get laid.

You'll see lots of old women sitting on the various benches around. Easiest way to identify a place that is "foreigner" friendly (for some definition of the term) is to wander until one tries to attract your attention. Maybe they won't budge on a first attempt but will do so later.

Sorry to drive up the price a bit for locals looking for a cheap romp, but here we are. If you have the means, then surely check out the officetel scene, but until my language skills are better, I think Jeni will do nicely! I just met Jeni Yi at my room in Seoul, not far from Namdaemun. Here is the bottom line. If you are a Westerner with limited Korean skills and a decent budget, I say go for it. OK so I went and tried to hit up Yeongdeungpo and it was a bust. I think I went to the wrong place. After arriving at the station, I exited out of 6. I then headed to my right. It lead to a more deserted area. I was then pulled in to the left by a mama and taken down a few alleyways. I went to the second floor and I stupidly gave the mama 100 k. And waited for a girl. Holy shit did I EF things up by doing that. I should have known better. In case you don't know. Don't pay unless you see the goods. I repeat, don't pay unless you see the goods. After much demanding in broken Korean and some angry Mandarin, I finally got my money back. As a side not I had told the mama that I was Taiwanese. Americans are usually frowned upon. She thought I was Japanese. So then I get the hell out of dodge. And wandered the area looking for some windows. I never found them, but I found a ton of love hotels. And even more norebangs. It helps that I can read a little.

So please learn from my experience and don't ever pay first until you see the goods. Also stay away from exit 6. Also research better first and if you're from the states use T-Mobile as you can roam free. I didn't have internet access on the trip thus the larger chance of messing up.

By the time I left I had spent around 2 hours in the area including the time it took to get my money back. Which I would say was Not an easy task.

Another note, try and travel with a buddy, because shit almost got real out there and it pays to have someone who has your back. I was constantly looking around to see if muscle was coming. Something close to this happened in HK.

Ending the story, I got back to my room and internet and read I went to the wrong exit. I should have headed to times square and Marriott. Which I think I did end up doing in my wanderings, but I was unable to find any windows.

If you arrive by subway you can go through the underground shopping centre. Not sure which exit from the center, but I think number two. You will find the rld right next, running along, to the Shinsegae shopping mall, a road between the mall and Yeongdeungpo subway station.

Easy to locate on Naver or Daum maps. The windows will be blurred in street view, so you know it's the rld.

You got it right, never pay until you've seen the girl and her ass stays put while you pay the mamasan. Korea can be confusing so always do your homework and don't try to memorize directions or subway exits. I used to write everything down so I knew exactly where to go. Hope you have better luck next time.
