Over on a short weekend and staying in the Waldorf on The Bund, very nice. Was the jazz club at the Peace hotel yesterday, quite early. Started talking to this girl about 35-40, very pretty and spoke good English. She was quite curvy which I liked and very well dressed in an almost conservative way. After a drink on me and a nice chat, she sprang the question. We walked back to the Waldorf and the doorman just smiled and let us in. I use NordVPN and it works great. I'm in China now and have had no problems connecting to Google or in using Gmail. It is only $3 per month and covers up to 5 devices.

Correct, do not follow people who stops you on the street. Nanjing or Xintiandi.

I use ExpressVPN. It is a paid service but I think you can buy just one month then cancel. With it, you can install on a computer and also a smartphone with one subscription.

I have not had good luck finding other good maps in English. Google is best. Gaode maps is good if you can read Chinese (I can't). Download the Google translate app and the Chinese language pack.

Note: Google is blocked by the Great Firewall of China. You will need a good VPN to access google maps, etc.

I am going there soon, and I am wondering what to do to cope with that. Any good VPN you suggest? Possibly free, since I will stay there only one week and I will not have the same problem again?

I think one thing that noobs need to be aware of that is that 396 option is not on the menu. You have to ask for it. And if you're a noob and you cannot speak Mandarin, then this may be awkward.

Right, I just tell them when I arrive (in Chinese) that I only want a young woman. Then they propose the 396 option. So I end up with 396+ maybe 200 for a hot, young naked thing but no sex. Not a great deal but it's something.

As to the oil up-sell, I believe that depends on the provider. It's part of their tip, essentially.

I went to checkout the Spring on maoming Road this weekend and apparently the oil massage is "taking a break". Tried another one of my regular places in Jingan with same result. I guess things are shutdown for a little while at the moment.

I'm not surprised, a semi legit place in Jing'an(some big expensive spa place with 28 rooms which can also perform less legit "projects") was controlled or raided last week at like 2 pm on a week day when I was having a veggie massage.

Suddenly a light came on. While the girl told me it was just the reception playing I told her normal places don't have lights in the room controled by the reception unless its to warn the police is coming. She laughed and asked me how I knew that.

Anyway, even when the massage was finished they wouldn't let me leave right away, they made me wait a few minutes. Probably not wanting me to cross the path of the police at the reception area.
