I experienced two Venezolanas on my last trip to Bogota last Labor Day weekend. Both were ruthless in their quest for more money than the agreed price and were below the standards of their Colombian counterparts in terms of attitude and service. This might reflect the bad situation they recently escaped from. Obviously they were attractive, which is why I chose them. But so were their Colombian counterparts. In both cases, I was in a casa and saw better looking girls become available after I chose them. I didn't know their nationality until after the fact. Looks wise, nothing distinguishes them as special when compared to the Colombianas. They are not a different ethnic group. Let's put these myths to rest, which originate with the beauty queen industry of Venezuela and gets perpetuated in forums like these. If and when I return to Colombia, I will probably make an effort to avoid the Venezolanas.

Well my experience was totally different to yours. I was with 8 Venezuelan chicas in Colombia, and 7 provided a great service! Can you speak Spanish, maybe not. Are you judging the behaviour / performance of all Venezuelan chicas on the 2 you had in a Bogota club, that would be ridiculous! Plus, chicas in Bogota clubs are known to be pretty hardcore in general, and moreso if they were clubs in Santa Fe.

Poverty is a great motivating factor for working harder in general, same goes for this business, and for the moment Venezuelans are much poorer than Colombians!

By the way, I never said anything about Venezuelans being better looking than Colombians, I also saw a lot of great looking Colombian women on my trip !

I'm planning a trip to Medellin and Cucuta was starting to sound like a good stop as well but now you got me thinking. First, I have questions of my own.

The may be a plausible answer to your question. Just wonder why the original poster didn't respond, now I'm taking his info with a little more than a grain of salt.

Cucuta is a "working class" town. Given its location next to the land border with Venezuela, Cucuta is a transit point for traders and small business owners.

If you want a decent Hotel at a reasonable price, then Hotel Casino Internacional (HCI) should be on your short list.
HCI is a good choice for the following reasons:

+Using Hotel Mary as a "reference" point, it is 1. 4 miles away. So it is a little closer than Hotel Bolivar (where The Tall Man is staying).
This means you will spend less on Taxi fare.

+There are plenty of eating and shopping options. And the best part is you can walk. No Taxi required.
Directly opposite HCI, there is a Centro Comercial called "Ventura Plaza".

The Cucuta is located about 7 miles from San Antonio del Tachira, the border town at the Venezuelan frontier. I have visited this town because I was curious about the mass exodus of people fleeing from Venezuela. Near the immigration and the crossing bridge to Venezuela I saw that the place was chaotic with unorganized flee market vendors, long line of taxis, all types of people walking with their luggage and many young men with hand trucks eager to help the traveler with their luggage. There were hundreds or thousands of people waking and hustling in the dust that I literally could not walked comfortably without bumping on them.

Are you talking about border town Villa del Rosario, La Parada off of highway 70?

In this Plaza, there is a Movie Theater (Cinemark) and Subway sandwich shop. Right next to the Plaza, there is a McDonalds. (this may clinch the deal for some folks!).
It almost feels like the McDonalds is part of the Plaza, but it is a separate structure.
Like to shop for fruits, drinks and groceries? Metro Cencosud is also in this Plaza.

+ HCI sells itself as a "Business Hotel with a Casino and a Pool" with a 4 Star rating. This means you:

(a) MUST be discreet and respectful to other guests.

(b) If you bring a chica whose boobs are falling out of her T-shirt, you should "cover" her BEFORE you enter the Hotel.
An oversized scarf works great. Just wrap around her neck, hold her hand and walk into the Hotel with confidence.

+ The per night rate for a room in HCI is around $47. Hotel Mary charges between $22 and $25 per night.
I have not stayed at Hotel Mary, but compared to HCI, Mary appears to be a dump. If you can afford to spend a little more, there are better Hotel options in Cucuta.

Not necessarily, we all know that taxis are inexpensive, they have a security guard 24/7 at the front entrance but when I drive in me and my girl are discrete and normal as possible, he just waves us through, following through with this morning my girl and I walked to the outside restaraunt where they serve the breakfast, no questions and no raised eyebrow looks from any of the staff, but know that we act like a respectful couple just enjoying our morning coffee and eggs, and she is not a registered guest either, also know that I am very tackful and kind to the staff, lets face it they all know the game and what is going on.

No I moved to Hotel Bolivar, about a 12 minute drive from the bar and street walkers area. And it is a hotel where you drive into and park in front of your room so it is very convenient but you need a car which I have.

Unless Hotel Mary gave me really bad info about them not having any rooms with AC, urrrrrr I suggest that you book a room with AC and simply show up and see if you get it, just don't have any expectations as we all know things change here in Colombia frequently.

Yes absolutely the bar fine is paid directly to the bar manager then the chica is yours, but if you keep her for another day, like I did be kind and go to the bar and pay the manager 50 mil for another day, if not she will be forced to pay it or will get fired.

An hour ago I just returned / dropped off my girl at her casa (15 minute drive from my hotel) where she rents a room, I gave her 130 mil and she is such a sweetheart does not even count it just thanks me, she was with me for 2 days, I gave her 120 mil for the first 24 hours, total GFE, sweet kind and humble Venezuelan girl.

Hotel Bolivar is listed as a "4 Star" property. (Probably because of the swimming pool). Regardless, this must be a HUGE upgrade from Hotel Mary.

This Hotel is 3.7 Kms from Hotel Mary, a 12 to 14 minute drive max.

How much is the room per night? Is the WiFi stable?

At Hotel Mary I paid 78 mil, here at Hotel Bolivar I pay 112 mil, wow what a difference, this is luxury! Yes it is a quick 12 minute drive but with traffic takes 15 minutes.

The wifi is stable and strong everywhere on the property. The staff are all really friendly and the free breakfast is very good. They have a full restaurant, me and my girl last night at midnight order room service hamburgers, delicious and convenient!

Thanks for all your valuable information so far, I know you told me Mary has no ac, on their site they offer me room for 4 nights 81 $ and room with ac 121 $ with pic of rooms with ac units! Is site just old and they done away with rooms with AC? Did you get to check out all rooms they offer bud? Thanks again for your on the ground reports of that area, also if I like a girl in the bar can I just pay the bar their 50 k take out fee and work time and money out with her to come back to my place.
