Now I might not know where I will be first night or two, and my rural address is a bit long and complex and won't be there immediately.

I expect to go for a yearly VISA with reporting some time soon. I wonder if I can get away with just reporting my one rural address.
The article says the fine for not reporting is 1,600 baht for the landlord who is supposed to file it. I was fined 800 baht this time. Don't know why the difference. And it was the first I'd ever heard of the form or the requirement to file it. They gave me a receipt. I suppose I could show my landlord the receipt and ask for the money one way or another since he is the one liable for the fine.

But he is very conscientious about these things, has asked me to give him any new Arrival/Departure card I get along the way. So I am guessing he is aware if this requirement, did file the report and it would be his word against Thai Immigration, a conflict I am willing to just pay an additional 800-1.600 baht once a year to avoid, frankly.

I am getting a pretty good deal with this apartment, like the easy going nature of the landlord and am not inclined to fuck with all of that just to avoid paying a potentially once a year fine of 800-1,600 baht that he is supposed to pay instead of me. I will certainly tell him the next time I return to my apartment after spending so much as 1 night in a hotel anywhere in the world including two blocks down Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok and remind him he needs to report it within 24 hours or be fined 1,600 baht. LOL. Lovely.

But if I get hit with another 800-1,600 baht fine the very long day I go to Immigration to renew my retirement visa, I will again pay it and count it as an effective increase from the usual 1,900 baht charge to renew. Or I will accept it as a roughly 64-133 baht per month increase in my rent. Lolol.

Suicide mission to hobby in North Korea. Why not just go to Seoul or Busan, SK?

I read in the link that the TM30 form is not only required within 24 hours after returning to your Thai apartment or condo from a trip outside of Thailand but also required when you return from a trip INSIDE Thailand. The reqirement is triggered when the hotel in, say Pattaya or Hua Hin, files their required report when you check in. So within 24 hours of returning to your apartment in Bangkok (or vice versa) you need to tell your landlord he needs to file a new TM30 form for you within the next 24 hours or be fined up to 1,600 baht. Or you can file it on his behalf within 24 hours.

The gap here is there is apparently no mechanism to provide a receipt or proof from your landlord that he did indeed file it and on time. So you will never know if he did until the next time you arrive at Immigration to renew your visa. And you will have nothing to show Immigration even if he did it on time and Immigration "lost" the record of it.

I suppose the upside is it can be done online. However, it remains to be seen IF the online method works. I have yet to make the online method for the 90 Day Report work.

Mongering in Korea is expensive, not very accessible to foreigners, and is now about the same as it would be in the US.

Fine you and Blacklist you. Don't let them get the satisfaction of taking your money and marking your passport with a negative flag. Extend or go home.

    Come off it buddy.

    It's a fear mongering video.

If you're a few days over when leaving, you pay the 500 Baht a day fine and that's it.

Period of overstay Banned from re-entering.

More than 90 days 1 year.

More than 1 year 3 years.

More than 3 years 5 years.

More than 5 years 10 years.

That's assuming you don't get arrested, then all bets are off.

At the start, the guy is pretty much saying you will be banned if you're a day over at the airport.

If you present yourself at Immigration you will only be blacklisted for 1 year if you have overstayed.

By 90 days or more. The periods then increase due to how long you have overstayed.

It then changes if you are arrested.

Then you can be banned from between 1 to 5 years for any overstay.

So for the person who messes up their dates and is a few days over, it's no big deal.

Having said that, it's obviously wise not to go into overstay.

The period of overstay matters a lot. I have been over my automatic 30 days in the past by just 1 to 3 days and paid the fine at the airport. No big deal.

The fine amount is not trivial, so is probably cheaper to extend your stay at Immigation, but wastes your time.

Those that develop a habit of overstay or overstay very long time are looking for trouble. A small number of days is a misdemeanor I guess.

Overstaying extensions may be considered worse than initial overstays.

I think an extension will not be granted if have already reached overstay. Could happen if some guy goes to Immigration only to find they are closed for a public holiday or two. Probably happens a lot. I believe it is a good idea to go for the extension several days before your stay expires, to have a safety margin if something goes wrong. I went a week before last time.
