I've actually mongered in Ukraine before, I also speak Russian so spent most of my time in Kharkiv as well as some time in Kiev, beautiful country and beautiful girls but have a very distinct eastern European look which is obviously far removed from what you will find in Medellin. I will say that Ukraine is a better place to go than Medellin if you are looking for model-type facial features. However I have enjoyed the brothels in Medellin more than I have enjoyed the brothels in Ukraine.

But overall I don't think facebook girls are worth the time or the money, or maybe they are and I just got a bad draw of girls LOL. It actually takes quite a lot of time to get into the whole facebook scene with finding girls and messaging them, trying to have them come, having them delay, having them wait for a babysitter for their kid, etc. If you're new to Medellin without a network I would also encourage you to be aggressive with adding friends, cause this is literally a numbers game, a lot of the chicas may not respond, be flakey etc. I guess it would be different if you already had a network of chicas set up, but I didn't. Also make sure you add girls that are located in Medellin, Bello, Itagui, etc. Don't add girls located in Maracay, Venezuela you've drifted into the wrong section of someone's facebook friends list. But the standard facebook pricing model is still pretty steep for Medellin IMO.

Every time someone gets robbed, or worse, in a mongering destination, there is someone talking about how dangerous it has become and that everyone should avoid the area. Then there's the people pointing out that the victim made mistakes that probably made the robber's target selection easier.

The first approach is useless. The second approach might help someone else avoid becoming a target. If the victim gets his feelings hurt, that's his problem. I'm not concerned with holding the hand of somebody who has already been robbed. I'm concerned about the 10 guys who will make the same mistakes next week, unless someone clues them in.

Sadly, yes we are. It all began when someone wanted to know if they'd constantly be rubbing shoulders with herds of gringos during the busy season. Even in Parque Lleras, unless you frequent a few popular gringo hangouts, you won't be overwhelmed with gringos. In Laureles, they're a barely noticeable minority. That's one reason why it's the second most popular neighborhood.

But, just like when a gringo gets robbed, there's always someone who wants to exaggerate the situation. And I try to present things as they are. I'll take the blame for the argument, since:

1. It takes 2 to argue.

2. I know that most of the people are just here hoping for Penthouse Forum reviews along with pictures.

At least some gringos, especially the older ones, move from Poblado to Laureles to get away from the steep hills. There are lots more gringos in Laureles than most any barrio other than El Poblado. "Overrun" is a very strong word. I would say Laureles is overrun with bars and restaurants.

Outside of Parque Lleras you will rarely spot a gringo unless you stumble upon a tour group.

There are about 120,000 people in Laureles. 2 gringos getting robbed, hardly qualifies as "infested. " Gringos get robbed wherever they go, usually because they do something stupid.

Yes, there are gringos in Laureles. A lot of gringos move to Laureles to get away from the gringos in El Poblado. But, you will seldom see them. A few here and there. I usually spotted a few each day, especially on the metro, since line 2 of the metro runs out near La Escaleras at Comuna 13, a popular tourist destination.

If you pay attention, you'll spot gringos in many areas of Medellin. Some are easy to spot. Some are difficult to spot. It hardly qualifies as an infestation, except in Parque Lleras.
