I stayed in DDC for 4 months (Lote 15 to be exact). Its definitely a place where you have to keep your head on a swivel at night (Many of the drug dealers/ muggers were pushed out of their favelas and set up shop in caxias, it can very dangerous at night), but during the daytime you should be ok. You can get a room at one of the hotels near the bus station (Novo Hotel is a good spot) , invite the milfs over during the day and then at night you can take a 5 minute cab ride to the Rei De Bacalhau club.

I like your choice of word 'swivel' cause that's exactly what I constantly do when I'm walking on the streets here in Rio, even during the daytime. I hate it cause then I get distracted from all the street booties LOL.

I've been to Duque de Caxias many times, but not since the club Pyramide closed. I liked Duque de Caxias, but it's not very different than many other places in RJ.

I am also curious to know it. Do you mean apartments in zona sul (Copacabana, ipanema etc)?. Hotels are better for short time but if you stay over one month you can find cheaper apartments as good as hotels.

If you can find all of those amenities in an apartment in Rio for cheaper than a hotel room, please let me know!

Yes I am mean apartments in Zona Sul (Copacabana, Ipanema and etc.). Even pre Airbnb an apartment rental provided a better value than Hotel in my opinion. I guess I'm curious as to what people pay for hotel rooms?

For example I put in a random date range of July 17-24 (7 nights) and hotels along Avenida Atlântica ranged from 81 to 123 per night, for a basic room and depending on property breakfast.

For 46 per night via Airbnb or rental apartment I could get and entire apartment: 1 block to beach between Arpoador and Ipanema, 1 BR, 1 BD, 1 BA, full Kitchen, Washer / Dryer, Microwave, Refrig, Wifi, living / Dining Room area, TV, Sofa Bed, Elevator access, Doorman / Security, iron, cable TV.

For 126 per night an Penthouse Apartment w / pool.

For 36 per night 2 min walk to beach 1 BR, 1 BD, 1 BA Studio apartment w / Air-conditioning, electric fan, hair dryer, microwave, cook-top, refrigerator, coffee-maker, sandwich grill, blender, flat-iron, LCD TV 40", Cable TV, DVD player, WiFi, Queen Size bed, and closet. 24 HR Doorman.

But if you prefer hotels there is nothing wrong with that.

4 x4 I can say this is best when it comes to variety of girls and is open till 3 am. The girls line up is good. Everyone tries to seduce you.

Price is 60 entry + 270 for girl 30 minutes. Took Larisa for first time. She speaks english and awesome kisser.

Second time visited and I spoke to many girls and tested them. Most of them were not ready for lip kiss before going to room so again ended up with Larissa!.

Not sure of the exact amount, but solarium is maybe double the price of 4 x 4. Celine is a provider who speaks great English and gave great service. I didn't bother going to centuro, I heard it's over priced and quality is similar to 4 x 4? Maybe I'll make my way there.

Can say ambience ok ok only.

Girls also not bad. Rates are same as 70 entry and 260 for girls 30 mind. Took some girl who speaks ok ok english.

Really expensive club and girls not that good.

For card payment they charge some 150 r $ extra. Really stealers.

Entry is 120 and that day some discount hence 60.

When setting up a trip to RIO I try to set up my travel dates around the availability of rooms at the real residents hotel. (I'm not sure that's the right name) but apartments there are about $50.00 a night and it's worth it. I hope this helps.

Are you speaking of Apart Hotels? These work fine.

I've stayed in Brazilian and South American condo buildings that could have been rental apartments being re-rented by the tenant on AirBnB. I never asked the desk guys. Things with AirBnB are very fluid. I just look for a decent price, decent accommodations and good reviews.

I'm certain on occasion that I have stayed in someone's personal apartment. They have checked me in and went off to stay with a friend nearby.

A little info on airbnb. I started using airbnb in 2012. I am one on their oldest customers. I just checked my profile and I have used airbnb 42 times. Aprox 20 in RIO 10 in Argentina and the others in other SA countries and a hand full in europe. I always stay in an apartment and I have paid over $50.00 I think 3 times. With that said the last few trips and from now on I'm raising my limit to $60.00. I would say overall most of the apartments I have stayed in were 3.5 stars. A few were better some were not as good. I've had problems 3 times, once in Barranquilla My apartment turned out to be a hotel storage room with no windows and next to the parking garage. I didn't stay and rented a room at a local hotel for one night airbnb refunded my money minus their fee but gave me a coupon worth more that their fee. I will not bore you with the other problems I had but airbnb has good customer service. Pull up their internet site and study it for a minute. Its pretty much straight forward. A few hints. Like I said I always look for apartments, all have kitchens. I don't cook but I do like a refer and a microwave and a coffee pot. WIFI is a must. I have found that condo rentals and some hotels lease apartments to people that rent them out thru airbnb. If this is what you like look at their amenities and if they list a exercise room and or a pool this is a dead giveaway. I hear ya. In my apartment or Airbnb experience I have daily cleaning (sometime with a charge and sometimes service is included) overall the Total Cost is always cheaper than Hotel. And the overall value proposition is better and amenities (I. E. , full kitchen, Large Balcony, Washer / dryer, living room space, depending on place a jacuzzi and or pool usually in penthouse, etc.) just an all around large spacious accommodations. Like in the US a Hotel Suite (I. E, Embassy Suites) is more spacious that your average hotel room event in the most expensive hotel. Anyway. Not trying to convince you,. Everyone has their preference Hotel vs. Apartment.

I will concede that there are cheap hotels that can be cheaper that an apartment or Airbnb, but not the class of hotels I would frequent.

Because hotels clean and change the sheets everyday and sometimes they are even cheaper with more amenities. I have only used airbnb 2 or 3 times around the world. Seems okay at first, then they add that cleaning fee and service charge and I am like might as well just get a hotel.
