As I have said before, just look around on your flights in and out of PI. Usually I am the only one that could be considered as such. Sometimes there may be 1 or 2 other single guys. Usually if I see any foreigner at all then he is older and attached to a Filipina chick that he has been married to for 40 years. Most people on the flights are families or locals that live overseas and are going home to visit. On the flight from Bangkok it is usually Filipinos that have been to Thailand for vacation. I don't know who is telling those lies about sex tourism. Maybe those are mongers that are so wrapped up that they have confused mongering with real life. You don't even have to get on a flight; just look around in the lobby of the airport. You would hardly see anyone that could be pegged as a monger.

A monger on a flight to the Philippines would probably suspect every foreign man aboard of being a current, former or future monger. Many of the Filipinas attached to the foreign geezers on the flights are former bar girls or freelancers. This contributes to the idea that every foreign man visiting or living in the Philippines is a monger. The tendency of Filipinas to approach foreign men with the intent to engage in paid sex can lead to the perception that there is a hidden hooker in each of them. Filipinos also believe that money is the only reason their women engage in sexual relations with foreign men, so that would make all foreigners involved in such relationships mongers.

Meeting in a bar may have a stronger shame here since we all know what bar girls are in reality.

People are going to talk shit about these women, but are quite happy with taking the money from them. I recall maybe 10-12 years ago sitting on the porch of a bar in the Barrio near Subic after my ship pulled in there. The bar sat right on the National Highway and a bus stopped right in front of it. I will never forget the looks on the faces of the people on that bus. Hell, I almost hid MY face, but the girls never flinched.

Lots of folk, beginning with the NGOs, benefit by begging up monger numbers. The big spenders anywhere are women which is why Thailand wants mongers out, women in. Outside of beer and other necessities, male mongers do not buy that much.

I am curious about what the real numbers are. Is anyone aware of any impartial and empirical data on the numbers of providers, full or part time on the people involved in the sex trade?

Also lots of definitional issues. If I come to the Philippines for purely sex tourism then I would be counted as a sex tourist, if I come for the diving and beaches and take a night out to have fun in a bar then am I a regular tourist or a sex tourist. One site claimed that anyone who while in a foreign country had sex or tried to have sex with someone other than a spouse that they were deviant sex crazed pervert and deserved whatever punishment came their way a thousand times over. LOL.

Anyone have any links to some impartial and realistic numbers?

The stigma of meeting on line here is not as strong as in the west. Even in the west it is dropping. I read somewhere now over a quarter of couples met on line. That is a significant number so any social shame of meeting on line will have to decline over time.

How else would a barrio girl meet, fall in love with a rich foreigner other than on line? Meeting in a bar may have a stronger shame here since we all know what bar girls are in reality.

The typical scenario is for the male classmates / cousins to be on the dating sites then of course if he spotted her saying something too raunchy or dressed too hot this would be spread rapidly among all her friends.

We can discuss the chances of seeing that but it is not the chance of it happening but the girls fear of it happening that drives the behaviours.

Still makes no matter because the only options are not I am a hooker looking for money or I am a hopeless romantic looking for a life partner. One could simply just write Hello on their profile.

Even funnier thing is that among some people there is still a taboo concerning meeting people online. I have met chicks in other countries (and even my own) that would not dare tell their family or friends that we met online. Since this thread started I saw a girl on SA that I had already met through PL.

I also went to my home city Tinder site and was looking through the offerings in preparation for a trip home later this summer. Saw a former Sugar baby there. (much smaller place than Manila but still saw her and recognized her even with new pictures.).

I think they talk about it among eachother and then search for eachother's profiles to see what they look like. Or they even show their profiles to other girls.
Women share a lot more about what's going on in their lifes than men usually. And certainly in a family oriented society like the Phils.

Not everything in the Philippines makes sense. The fact that they have the fear of being seen there is sufficient for them to say looking for love, until they know that they are dealing with a foreigner.

I have come across two women I have known on SA back home and dated a woman from there that was recognized by several male friends after she posted her profile.
