At DramaFree11, I read that bus to Laredo then walk across, then bus to MTY is fastest. This is due to immigration checking and traffic at bridge crossing. Can others confirm?

I went to Laredo recently, went to Jorochos bar for about a minute a couple times, then walked out. I saw one gringo (Bbond? And a chica or two. Not sure if they are working, but seemed receptive. Anyway, I'm not one for loud music, so I left quickly.

BT mostly has gorditas, but a couple are not fat and decent. A taxi driver showed me some nice WhatsApp chicks, but I didn't get digits. I don't know where or how he found them. Any ideas? The typical sites seem mostly fake. MTY was a blast. I went there after a few days in Laredo, but I liked Laredo too.

I understand and respect your decisions. I plan to continue crossing the border through Nuevo laredo and will post my experiences. 4th of July is coming up so I plan on taking a 4 day weekend to mty. The Grey hound bus arrives in Laredo around 930 am from my city so that would put me in mty around 12 pm in time for early check into my preferred hotel in mty. I think the best bus option back from Mty is a direct bus to my city in Texas. I feel scared to even post my travel plans on here. You never know who is reading this forum. Maybe I'm just paranoid. Thank you Bbond for the information. I would like to one day move to Laredo or Mcallen area so I can be closer to the border.

The first clue that this was going to take place was the long bus line where we had to wait for about 3 hours just to get to the bus inspection station in Nuevo Laredo. My question is, if I know that there is a long bus line to cross into Mexico, which tells me that immigration officers in Mexico are ripping off the passengers, can I just get off the bus and walk the rest of the way across bridge 2? From there I can just take a taxi to the central bus station in Laredo and be on my way.
No, they will not allow you to do that.

Not gone, but it is merely a shell of what it once was. I have been told that a couple of the old bars have reopened, but have not been out there to check it out.

No, there is no provision for foot traffic into Mexico on bridge 2.

The whole thing is so screwed up! I thought I had the whole thing figured out, but I was wrong. I would say go very early in the morning.

They did the same thing on election day here in the Philippines but all bars were still open. Expats were allowed to drink just not Filipinos. In NL some of my best times ever were when the bars were closed. There still werwe girls around it just took a little more effort to look for them. That was years ago though.

Honestly, I do not think that was the case, but did not want get into that mess. The worst part it was early in the morning, I thought I had avoided all that be. S. This why I stay clear of Laredo now.

I thought I was being smart taking the bus in Laredo to MTY, I was wrong. Stop at a roadblock not by the cops, but the locals. Next trip, took the early bus to avoid any drama, we'll get off the bus in Laredo. 5 or 6 guys surround a guy getting off the bus, I did not stick around to see what happened. This is why I avoid Laredo at all cost.

MTY is good, but driving or bus just too dangerous for me. I will only fly in when flights are less then $400.
