Another option. There's direct flights from Moroni and Dzaoudzi to Nosy Be, Diego and Mahajunga. No need for you to return to Tana. Also direct flight from Tulear to Reunion. But return flights everywhere probably now at least 300 $. And Coros I don't know if they offer VOA.

It was hard but can be done in one or two days. I do recommend to change the flight instead of dealing with that.
I am not talking about legal stuff. Every Immigration official with an international airport can do it. Its similar to Kenya. You get a entry / exit stamp and a new Visa sticker but you never leave the country. My mate did the extension in Nosy Be twice. Just ask the long term expats. Another german mate of mine knows the boss of immigration in Tamatave. Same thing. All these people make money on the side. And now they can increase their income. Again its not legal. But its working.

Up to you to take the risk.

Its huge problem if you don't know first hand don't mislead. I did it last year in Tana and it was a nightmare. I took 4 taxi to down town to bring documents and bank authorization and more countless things.

    2 months

I now found myself with a 60 days visa and a 84 days ticket. I guess nobody posting in months has stayed longer than 2 because no one has mentioned it. Well heads up, now you know.

I now need to find out how to get a further 1 month extension. The woman who gave me my visa at the airport said I could do it in any major city and a South African tourist website says it can be done at any provincial capital at the Immigration Office. My question is has anybody done this? I spent well over an hour last night looking on the internet and could not even find the office in Tana. All I came up with was a website with no address and no contact info. I know in a place like Cambodia there are dozens of agents who will do this for you but I have no idea if such a thing exists here.

I am looking at a very expensive change of plans if I must change my ticket and worst case scenario it may be cheaper to fly return to La ReUnion or Mauritius and get another month on arrival.

Anybody done this? Any advice extremely welcome!

I wrote about that already last December. Apparently since the elections the idiots changed it to 2 months max. But Visa extension is not a problem. Expats told me although illegally Police is extending visa all over the place. Ask local french expats. I know people stay with illegally extended visas for years on end. A mate of mine staid 6 months. Although on exiting they extracted another fine upon departure of 50.000 AR.

Other low cost shagging venues. Kigali, Ruanda. Kampala, Uganda. My top three on the African continent for 10 USD on average shag for a slim LBFM. Even Mombasa, Kenya can be still good as long as you stay away from the expired club slay queens. 2 hours solid shag can be still had for 1000 kshs without big problems. Hey I am 55 years shagging 18 to 23 years age bracket. forget overpriced Asia. Tempos passados spoiled by overpaying sextourists.

    Africa is the last frontier.
One caveat. don't expect top class asian infrastructure....

In Tamatave you have 2 seasons: rainy season and rainy season.
I would never swim at Tamatave.Very polluted and some sharks close by.Foulpointe is just ok but nothing special.
