You summed it up perfectly, and of course not taking a girl, you did not get to the part to complain about a crappy performance with too many restrictions. I really believe this place is not really suited to fussy Farangs, and not at all like the old Thermae of yesteryear where we could meet such enthusiastic girls. I prefer to take my chances with freelancers on the street, where at least if we blow our money, it is much less wasted. My last street girl (who is really into Farangs) was 400% better than any Thermae girl I tried in recent years (despite her very small tits) for the service (superior tongue kissing was a highlight).

I think you failed to mention the incredibly conservative dress of some or most girls there, designed to hide the major body flaws. All up the degree of difficulty to find the right girl, is far too high for me.

Spot on Syg, conservative dress is the norm, and not only does it hide flaws, it appeals to the Asian punter who wants a more innocent wholesome fantasy. If it were to my taste the gals would all be wearing belly shirts with stomach showing and short shorts with some ass cheek hanging out. Bottom line, with the exception of a few laughs to be had at the circling punters, Thermae is a bit of a bore for Western dudes.

One of my fav happenings back in the day goes as follows; we were sitting at table by the back door and an Asian dude asked if he could sit with us. He was a Vietnamese American making a visit to Vietnam. He was a hoot. Saw a gal he liked passing by, grabbed her by the arm, looked her in the eye and said, "How would you like to s $ck my the $$k tonight?" She popped right down in his lap, grabbed his pecker and said, "ok. " Now that's my kind of dude an my kind of gal. Could you imagine the reaction of the current crop of Thermae girls to and approach like that? They'd freak out.

Agreed. Dumb and Dumber is one of the few movies I've walked out on. Funny, let's go back to Mel Brooks and all of the amazing late 70's comedies starting with Animal House and ending with Stripes. And oh, all the Monty Python films.

You have to be in the mood I guess. I certainly could not watch Dumb and Dumber. Agree one of the dumbest movies ever. Not sure if I lasted beyond 15 minutes max. However I have to say I found the quite crazy Pet Detective and Liar Liar, to be both quite amusing. The Mask was not similar and total shit. The Truman Show was absolutely dumb for me (and not funny), so no enjoyment there. I liked Johnny English (Rowan Atkinson). I prefer Adam Sandler in a straight role, and same for Steve Carell. My least favourite comedian: possibly Will Ferrell. Probably I preferred comedies of yesteryear (ha ha), like Silver Streak, Foul Play, Sleeper, The Pink Panther.

Life of Brian was overrated for me, as the joke is funny the first time, but when they repeat it so many times for so many minutes, starts to bore me. I preferred the madcap Holy Grail actually.

One of my all time favourites was "After Hours" (Scorsese) which was a high suspense comedy thriller, and included Cheech and Chong in semi comedy roles. A "shit happens" type of movie and with some hot girls. For really old, Polanski's "Dance of the Vampires" (Polanski does not seem to make any bad movies)

We have to realise taste varies so widely.

Wandered into Thermae last night about 11 pm. I have never seen it so crowded in my almost 20 years as a patron. You could barely walk around. 99% of the punters were Asian, many of them in their 20's and early 30's, most of whom were very shy and giggly like schoolgirls. Very easy marks for the gals. Also saw some grotesque surgical nightmares. Faces puffed with filler, sharp noses, etc. The cut rate clinics must be doing a good business. The "far side" with the gals who are normally farang friendly hadn't one gal I would even consider. There were some lookers on the other side and in the back, but they were nary interested in the white man and were heard and seen quoting 3 k and up ST. Lordy.

Anyone been to Biwa Cafe lately?

It's many years since my last visit. At the time, very few girls in the line up, older, fatter, and budget priced. I don't know if may have changed. I think Nancy was very close by, also a budget place, but I think a bit better.

Biwa was one of the lowest rated places for me, way back when I went there. Maybe for MILF enthusiasts on a tight budget.

Police Academy was great! There have been some funny films since then, Clerks comes to mind, but man, back in that era it was one right after another. One of the most underrated was 1941, Spielberg's only comedy.

Adding to the conversation, my own favorites include stand ups George Carlin Dave Allen Richard Pryor Tommy Cooper, the early Woody Allen movies up to Annie Hall, almost anything from Monty Python or Mel brooks of which I single out The Producers and Zero Mostel's performance.

Can't help but feel nostalgic every time I pass through and long for the days when Thermae was a fairly seedy hangout for local expats all with pretty fascinating stories to tell and when it was a "happy fun" place. Just not very festive now.

I think the scene in Police Academy where the hooker gives the Commander a blow job while she is in the podium and he is giving a speech, then after it's all over he looks back to see who gave him the BJ and Mahoney sticks his head out of the podium is the funniest bit in any comedy I have ever watched. That came after Stripes.

Sure, those Mel Brooks movies, 70's comedies like Animal House and Stripes (1981), and the Monty Python films were funny. Jim Carey was never funny even in his prime which was The Mask. Enjoyed him more when he was playing it straight as in The Truman show. Agree with his politics but not his anti vaccine stance.
