From the western perspective, food is more important than a phone.

Food is not necessarily more important than a cell phone. It depends on what the cell phone is being used for. It can be used as a tool or as a toy. If it is used as a tool, then you definitely do not want to pawn it because it can be used to bring you money to buy food.

(One of my chicks in the Dumbinican Republic was talking about selling her computer because she didn't have money to pay for school. I said yeah bih and then how are you going to do your school work without the damn computer? For some reason she had not thought of that.)

Related story. You are probably aware of the situation in Venezuala, the unraveling of the social and economic fabric has been all over the news the past few years. In a somewhat surprising story in the news from about a year ago, as inflation was wildly out of control and the locals were having trouble purchasing anything in the stores as prices spiraled up out of control, they began trading things with each other, online, using social media. Pampers were traded for food. Other items were traded for transportation. And so on. Western reporters asked locals why they didn't sell their cell phones to pay for pampers or foods. I got a PM asking about any police contact while mongering and thought that it would be an interesting discussion. The question was had I experienced any police contact while mongering or otherwise in the Philippines? Was there corruption?

Outside of routine contact with police and similar officials, I. E. Customs etc, I have not had any contact with any law enforcement agency in about 18 months total time in the Philippines. Closest was I would routinely drive past a PNP check point neat Butuan City when I was there a few years ago. I simply showed my foreign driver license and bill of sale (the registration was pending). After about 3 passes thorough the check point they just started waving me through, never any hint that they wanted donations to their Christmas fund or anything like that. (I also rode my bicycle past the check point most mornings and was never stopped, just a smile and a wave through.).

This is partly due to my mongering style, I hunt exclusively on the dating apps and am not a bar goer or even a late night out type.

Anyone have any contact with police? Positive or negative?

1) close them as soon as they appear, before they have a chance to load cookies on your HD.

2) After loading ISG, open the next window in a new tab / page, they won't show again.

I get them too. They are pop up ads, which sometimes take a few seconds to load. Two solutions:
