Many Greeks, including women, are leaving the nation for better-paying jobs. Almost all young Greeks speak English, so you should have no problem communicating with them. To the the girls, certainly mens' looks and wealth would exert positive influence. Personally, I don't find Greek girls very attractive in sharp contrast to Eastern European girls. But good luck anyway.

I don't want to be misunderstood here. My comments haven't any negative point towards Thailand. On the contrary, I am well aware and frequent visitor of Thailand / Bangkok since I've been there several times. You are right about their economy. They do thrive but not due to the existence of the notorious sex scene. Greece and Thailand still aren't comparable. Greece is much more advanced country in almost every aspect even though the economical recession sadly last almost a decade. Having the protection of the European Union the target of Greece are the western countries and not Thailand. So, I don't agree with you even though I respect Thailand very much (culture, physical beauties etc).

I can't see any mystery. Athens is a 5 millions city! You will see every kind of couples. Different ages or skin colours etc. Many people are working night shifts so they wander around at day time. Its normal. Again in Greece prostitution is legal. There are cheap options like brothels and studios and more expensive as call girls and escorts. Too many options to be honest. Regarding normal women at the streets. If you can "score" at your country you may also "score" here. Obviously staying for a week or 2 makes it more difficult. Language is usually not a barrier. Almost everybody can speak English here.

I did try a dating agency to see if they could find some dates. They wanted 700 euros to join the agency and said it would take a few weeks to organise dates but it was too long to wait. And they didn't have any photo albums of women as you would expect. So I left that idea on the back burner. There's obviously older guys with women walking around town in the daytime so not sure where they get fixed up.

Never heard anything like that which wasn't a scam. I think you did the right thing not paying 700 eu.

I have noticed if just a few SW are seen in an area they move in big time with a bus of heavies with shields and coshes and glocks to keep them out of the areas. Its way over the top on a few women trying to make a few euros to survive. Its not as if there are 100's of hookers working. Haven't seen any migrant women working anywhere as you would expect to see. Athens will never be like Bangkok which is a shame. As it would boost the local economy as it needs boosting.

The working girls in brothels or studios are legal. Prostitution in Greece is legal. On the contrary the SWs are illegal so the police is just doing the right thing. Policemen with shields and glocks (MAT) do not arrest them. They deal with riots, demonstrations etc. Furthermore in 2012 KEELPNO (Greek CDC) examined around 1000 SWs and found 82 HIV positive, meaning an 8% HIV prevalence. SWs are risky. I wouldn't suggest them to anybody. Also, I don't believe that they are Russians. Probably Albanians, Romanians, Bulgarians and some Greeks. Also unfortunately, drug addicts.

Economies never boost with prostitution! Commerce, tourism, energy but not prostitution. Thankfully, a European Union country cannot turn to Bangkok.
