He has a few valid points, you do have to spend a lot of time in El Centro sampling the merchandise to find the performers.

First let me say, and you can verify from my posts, I am a long time monger in second world countries. Thailand 15 times. Bali, Vietnam, Laos. Lived in Dubai 12 years. For some context I am a white American, 58 years old.

Today was my first trip to Medellin and my first day.

I will surely provide some posts after my visit. I thank the forum for the preparation, I have read many pages of posts.

I need some direction to salvage this trip.

Based on posts here I decided to go the El Centro route as I am not a Prima Dona and I like to save money when I am a monger not throw money in the toilet, and I don't need to hang around tourists.

That said, this is not the same as low end Thailand or Vietnam etc.

I am staying at 47 Hotel Medellin which has a 7. 8 rating on hotel.com. $35 a night, great room pictures on the website.

I get to the hotel and here are the issues. No AC, No room safe, No closet? No dresser? No refrigerator. My feet hang off the end of the bed and I am only 5'8" No real bedsheets just a small thin sheet and blanket which I have never see in my life. I asked for a glass to drink my whisky in and they said go to the restaurant on the roof, which I did and the manager said only for restaurant. Went downstairs, hotel staff came up with me and I watched a 3 minute argument about 'I should not get a $1 dollar? Max glass but finally I got. You get the idea.

Then as discussed here you cannot go out and walk at night. The hotel was very clear. No, no,no, no too dangerous. So I am staying in a hotel where I can only go out in the day unless I go straight to a taxi. I cannot even take my phone out of my pocket without becoming some target? (As many experienced people here have said and as my hotel suggested even during the day).

I went to 3 restaurants today. All 3 the waiters were very agitated / annoyed that I did not speak fluent Spanish. They were annoyed I tried to use Google translate. One waitress went and got someone else to help me because she didn't want to use Google translate. All the waiters were visibly annoyed very quickly that I didn't speak Spanish. One restaurant I just walked out of due to them mocking me between themselves because I didn't speak Spanish.

Next I went to Veracruz area and checked out the scene, most of what I saw I would not go with for free. After walking for 2 hours took a 20 year old Venezuelan chick who was at best a 6 just to get something done, she was the best I saw and it was not good.

So I am trying to understand the mentality of people here who are so proud of El Centro, so proud that they can handle it. Is your only goal how cheap you can find pussy? Do you not mind staying in a hotel where it is too dangerous to go out and walk around at night? Do you not mind fucking very subpar pussy? Did I just have bad luck in the Veracruz area? Give it a try tomorrow and it will be better? Are my expectations just too high after mongering for so many years in Asia? Is your only goal how can I get the cheapest pussy but all the other qualities of a vacation are unimportant?

And if you mock and say, just go to the tourist area. Just go to the expensive areas. Let's be clear, that's not me, I don't want to hang out with stupid tourists who over pay I have been doing this 20+ years and that is not at all how I roll. Look at my past posts.

That's my first day in Medellin. I do hope my posts get better but I am not optimistic.
Have not yet read all the responses so if what I am saying has already been said I apologize in advance.

It's been written many times before: There is a learning curve with Medellin if you are out and about on your own. Even moreso if your Spanish is limited. This learning curve is overcome by the amt of time you spend here. SO, If you are here for under two weeks get ready to have a good deal of disappointment in the getting a quality sex experience.

I am not promoting the high end places at all but if you are coming down for 10 days and want to get a quality lay or three EVERY day you will be extremely disappointed in Centro or anywhere actually being 100% totally on your own and with minimal Spanish. It is probably best to hit the Mansion or something similar for your first few times to get to learn the ropes, the lay of the land etc.

As far as accomodations and an actual glass as opposed to a plastic cup well welcome to the 3rd world. To do things right you need to forget Sam Adamas in a chilled pilsner glass and make friends with a can of Pilsen. Or you can spend the big bucks in Medellin (way more expensive than Cali or Barranquilla) and go higher end (you're still not getting Sam Adams but Heineken, Bud Stella you get the idea).

As for the girls in centro I wouldn't fuck them with a wooden dick. HOWEVER there are gems to be had who are simply out of this world -the trouble is you are not going to find them and score them in just a week or two down here. By the time you figure it out someone's taken her and you'll never see her again (don't despair as the first few times in the sack for some reason Colombianas are nowhere near their peak performance. After they get to know you and feel comfortable with you it is so much better). This girl you're dying to find again the next night will waste a lot of your time as she may only "work" a few times every other month and in more than just a few different spots.

When you are reading the awesome reports here of having the greatest time in centro you are most definitely getting these reports for seasoned vets who come down all the time, or guys who live here, or guys like you who just happen to hit it lucky. And you most certainly can hit it lucky, in fact I know you will. But unfortunately it will be on your last or second to last day.

When you get home and think about the $ spent and the pussy conquered it will probably seem not worth it.

The difference between Medellin and places like FKK or Curacao is that in the latter you walk in with only English skills and have a hundred women to choose from all in one place. It costs a bit more but you will get quality pussy from day one. When you get home from places like this and think about the $ spent and the pussy conquered it will definitely seem VERY worth it. You've already been to Thailand many times so you know what I am saying.

So if you prefer latinas on the cheap and want good quality you will get it here but it's a process that requires better Spanish and lots of time building the relationships with the girls, being a steady customer and even a customer once she leaves the business. All of which is not happening the way you would like it to happen on this first trip.

I would recommend for you this trip to hit the casas and try to click as early as possible with someone and try to get repeats after hours ("Come to my hotel after work and we'll grab a few beers and a bite and then I'll pay you a little more than when the casa charges for the hour and you'll get to keep all the money instead of splitting it with the casa".

    Suerte!

If you really want to push the envelope on price, why stay in an Airbnb when you can stay at a hostel for under $10 per night?

There are benefits for each. Many Airbnb apartments have excessive rules. Some are in areas where most gringos wouldn't be comfortable. Some of the cheapest ones lack things most people take for granted, like hot water or toilet paper. Colombia is a world leader in uncomfortable furniture. Spending a week on a bed that's either extremely hard, or extremely worn out is no fun.

Hotels come with daily cleaning, extra towels when needed, possibly room service, security.

It's all a matter of individual preference.

I have done both. I like hotels for laundry service, daily cleaning, pay with credit card, fresh towels, breakfast, room safe, back up elevators, better beds, faster service on maintenance, security and no church-going neighbors.

When in Medellin while using a BnB on the last trip, I became partial to using short-time motels for mongering. I was using one of the agents mentioned on the Board and Seeking Arrangement. In Laureles, I can recommend Aloha Suites for basic rooms and Thematic Luxury Suites for an upgraded experience. My Airbnb was between the two motels. The caveat is that I am a daytime monger and the motels are usually discounted during the afternoon. Expect to pay 50 k to 70 k COP for three hours.

Did you try to have sex with her? If not, why not? Respectable girls like sex too and are open to being 'convinced' on the first date.

Bar and Restaurant recommendations for hanging with a non pro or pro chica

Yo fellas I will be in town this week. I wanted to know a decent location to hang with a chica for drinks maybe some dancing. My days are Monday Tuesday and Wednesday. I know some times it's hard to find parties on these days. In my last trip it was damn near impossible. I will be staying in engery building. Appreciate any assistance thanks.

Have you downloaded the map? The map has some websites, hours of operation, etc. For the various sex establishments in addition to the locations.

I've been to strip clubs on Sundays. Typically, casas are not open during the evening.

I don't get it. There is a detailed map with an ample amount of sex establishments, hundreds of trip reports, detailed videos on youtube, social media, online contacts, etc. Yet, I still see people asking questions about Medellin? It reminds me of a facebook group I'm in where every month someone different asks what the cost of living is in Medellin.

    Other experiences

I wasn't inspired by ColombiaLover's report, it just worked out that I had a different type of experience today.

A Venezuelan I met 2 years ago has stayed in touch with me. She was back in Venezuela until yesterday when she managed to return to Medellin. Although she was doing P4P when I met her, she's not particularly interested in it. She'll do it when she has to, but she tries to avoid being in that situation. She's 22, ambitious and has no kids. She's also reasonably well educated and comes from a middle class family.

I've been looking forward to seeing her again, not just because she has the perfect look for me, but because we can have an actual conversation about real things.

This afternoon she hit me up. She made it back, has settled in and wanted to do something. I'd been having a lazy day and was happy for the incentive to get off my ass and do something, even though sex was off the table because of her period. Instead I invited her to a movie.

We met at Los Molinos mall, had some coffee and chatted for about 3 hours. I paid for coffee, movie and snacks, but she didn't ask for anything else. It turned into a 5 hour platonic date after which I had the taxi drop her off before taking me back to the apartment. Counting the taxi I spent about 90 k.

I could have found other ways to entertain myself, but sometimes I would rather do something different.

Some of us try. I'll answer any question to the best of my ability, except for "can you give me her contact info." I even go to the trouble of trying other things, just to have the experience. As an example, I spent 2 nights at the Mansion just to understand what type of monger it's best suited for.

I'm also not a one size fits all guy. That's why I ask questions. How's your Spanish? What are your priorities? What environments are you comfortable with? I can't make much of a recommendation without some information.

My hope is that everyone who visits has a great and safe time.

By going there to inquire is how you are going to get the best deal. I have a buddy that stays at the Nutibara and pays like $250/month, but you are not going to see that online. You will see that by walking over and asking in person. Same as someone said to get a local number and send messages from that and chicks will give you a lower price than if you send messages from a foreign number.

I am just a person that does not like to reinvent the wheel. You said that you read so much then you go off and stay at a place that nobody has mentioned. That gave me a chuckle and that is why I quoted it and somewhat mocked you for it. It reminded me of my brother. Whenever he has gone somewhere new and I have told him exactly where to stay, somehow he always ends up at a place across town that nobody has mentioned that is way far from the action. When I go somewhere new I will get on here and read and ask other board members where I should be staying. My first time to Medellin I waited until a buddy of mine (who lives there now) that already knew the ropes was going too. I did not have to figure anything out. All I had to do was follow him. That is how I learned of all the $10, $13, $15 hotels and all the casas and bars and strip clubs all around downtown. It would have given me a headache trying to figure all of that stuff out on my own. Had he started me out in Poblado, then maybe I would have been one of the Poblado guys.

FB chicks, I have done that as well, but I want to forget, the real events, those I remember for life!
It appears that Teatro Metropolitano has no performances scheduled during my planned visit, though it was a great suggestion for an upscale date. Any other suggestions would be welcome.
