I have learned through the years living abroad, is that its risky assuming a friendly smile and inviting conversation is cause to be at ease and not be aware of a potential scam or ulterior motivation behind someone's sudden interest (The short and the long game). My way is to give individuals zero credibility. Prepare for the worst in people, but be flexible enough to embrace the good when it is genuine.

So always lock everything up in safe deposit box moment you come to the room. Take only local pesos you need for food and entertainment.
Trust is a hard word in our hobby.

But at least you observed the first rule of mongering here, never carry more cash than you need for the evening, especially on the main strip, so you limited your loss.
But getting ripped off is bound to leave a bad taste in your mouth, and it's not just about the money.
That, together with your recent bad experiences with a few chicas reported here, I wouldn't expect Sosua to be on your future planning schedule, anytime soon.
But thanks for sharing!

It's getting better and better. Got robbed at the Merengue. I'm almost sure it was a tall ugly hooker that tried to chat me up, then left abruptly. Nothing I couldn't afford to lose. About 2 K Pesos, a passport card and a Schwab's debit card I've already canceled that hasn't been used. I had it in my shorts, in a Velcro pocket next to my villa keys that weren't taken, thanks god. Well, fair enough, I've been to some dodgy places and never had a problem, so it was bound to happen sooner or later, but it surely killed the mood.

Hundreds of girls to choose from, and cheap rooms by the hour right next door to the local bars!

Is your main problem really with taking the girls home, or is it with choosing and negotiating with free-lance chicas? Because they are different issues. Sosua has always been best known for its variety of free-lance chicas (very few of them are controlled by pimps) and most of us prefer that our money all goes to the girls rather than 40% (say) to pimps.
Otherwise go to Santo Domingo instead. There are brothels there.

Fellow mongers,
I prefer to go to brothels and not take any girls home. I've heard the government is cracking down on the brothels. Are there still good brothels in Sosua?

I never had a problem bringing someone in, but lately, I don't know maybe a year or 2, I've noticed a consistent trend against bringing guests. If it's not flat out ban on outside guests, then it's something like the villa I've booked for my next trip. You're supposed to bring your chica in a closed car; she's not supposed to be seen anywhere outside the villa including the porch and the PRIVATE pool, and if an issue arises with the police, they kick you out and get to keep the rent. I still booked the place because it looks great, and I still get to play, hopefully, but I don't like it one bit.
The point is, if the listing doesn't contain a specific policy, always ask the host if your desired activities aren't banned.
Now, I don't know if this shit is really enforced, but it's totally fucked up for a town, which prosperity badly depends on adult entertainment.

Looking for something clean, conveniently located and Chica friendly. How about a condo on AirB&b? There's a lot available.

Was on the main drag in Sosua for a couple weeks at the end of June. As Darkness fell, the selection of great choices rose. It seemed as though everyone was asking 3000 pesos for an hour or two of companionship but with a little negotiations 1500 pesos would always do the trick. Never pay more than you need to.
