    Entebbe

I'm going to bang the drum for Entebbe too although my last couple of visits I've been with a regular and not out so much. The UN footprint is lower than it used to be and some places closed or are dying (O's, Rooster) and 4 Turkeys' best days were 25 years ago but Amazon, Knight Riders and Street Club (are all within 100 m of each other.

At Amazon it's worth pushing through the crowd and going through a door next to the bar at the end which is easy to miss. So called VIP area.

Knight Riders is a club open Wednesday & Fri-Sun. Loads of Uruguayan UN soldiers in red tracksuits and gold chains living the dream downstairs while upstairs is (slightly) more upmarket.

Street Club (is more local. Again, make sure you're in the club inside and not the 2 bars at street level.

Entebbe is small but perfectly-formed. I'll be there for NY.

    Different worlds?

My Entebbe experience is two years old but should still be relevant. When previous posters say that Entebbe is "dead" - don't believe them. Any afternoon just go to 4 Turkeys, a bar / restaurant on the main drag. There will be girls, and by evening time there will be many of them, competing hard for you attention. Both, outside at the big tables and indoors. If that is not enough, there are two clubs across the street, I forgot their names, but neon-lit and hard to miss. Almost next-door to each other. Even though I had a girl at my side, by 11 PM I had several girls vying for my attention. A little after midnight things got downright raunchy. Flashing boobs was the minor part of it. On the dance floor it was almost complete fucking. That was on a Thursday. Have no idea how they could top it on a busy weekend.

My girl rewarded me plentiful back at the hotel that I did not go for one of the "dancing girls. " By breakfast time I was still very much deprived of sleep.

I agree totally. If they want paternity tests done then tell them to come to your home country. See how many take you up on that.

It could be scare tactics, but.

It could be BBC scare tactics, but do you really suggest that 7% HIV rate mentioned in the article and a number of other sources is NOT real?

Do not intend to argue the point, just interested how other men look at it, enlighten me please.

There are some nice areas in Kampala you could stay in and still be an Uber ride away from action. Getting to Kampala is also time consuming because of the traffic as you get closer to Kampala. At the beginning it's easy because it's a highway; but as you get closer to the city, the traffic gets worse. If your heart is set on Entebbe, stay for a 2 days to see normal life in Uganda and then go to Kampala and stay in a nice hotel.
It's true Entebbe is typically a residential area and you hardly get laid in the area unless you bring a chick from Kampala for a quiet and smooth love making life!

Considering a trip to Uganda as always wanted to see it apart from the PTP fun.

Looking at blogs and travel clips I'd say Entebbe is more my speed than Kampala. But is there enough fun there to last a week or so?

Also, how long does it take by taxi to reach Kampala if I go there for a couple of days?

    Many many thanks! M.

    Entebbe

Staying at an Entebbe guesthouse-type lodging (of which there are numerous) the day before a very early Sunday morning departure, in the late afternoon a smell of smoke and loud music was wafting in. I went out and around to the property next door where there was a barbecue pit, food, bar, people and girls drinking beer. A party had started where I was welcomed to join and by nightfall, I had a friend for the night. Earlier in the day visiting the beach area, it was a family and kids kind of place. Entebbe is a pleasant, quiet residential area, with consulates and some restaurants scattered in. Wouldn't really be worthwhile to stay more than a night, unless maybe you had a car.

You are right. I was in Entebbe from a short time but it didn't impress me at all. I ask another question: I always take an hotel or apartment close to Acacia mall. Is there another nice place interesting like Acacia mall where I can be for 2 weeks? About interesting I mean full of girls.

    Entebbe, White Sand beach

As usual more men than women and most women with friends or family. But a few girls were ambling about on their own or in twos and my gazes were reciprocated. No lookers though, girls next door types.

Music is played at glass-shattering decibels and I was glad to leave.

Ueber will get you here but not back to Kampala. In fact Ueber's coverage does not extend beyond a 10 km radius from central Kampala. Ueber rides to the outskirts are expensive by Ueber standards because the taxi is expected to return empty.

Also extremly noisy during the day if you have an apartment away from the parking lot.

Another downside of the apartments is they're not connected to Speke's emergency power generator. I had a 2-hour power cut on one day and another the next day that lasted 8 hours! The good-tempered Indian little chap who supervised the apartments kindly brought me a couple of candles at nightfall. I'm grateful to such incidents for making me aware of one of the downsides of living in Africa.

    Hey,

In your opinion is it better to book an apartment close to Rock Garden or close to Acacia mall for 10 days? What are the differences? Thank you!

If you book an "apartment" you will not be asked to register your visitor, whether you bypass front desk (if you carry your key with you) or whether you collect your key at front desk on your way to your apartment.

Apartments are in a separate block at the opposite side of Rock Garden. To reach them, from the Speke main entrance you turn left and walk across Rock Garden into the big Car Park & Wash. You can also leave and enter from the Car Park gate in Coleville Street if you're prepared to carry your key with you. Unfortunately the keys have a cumbersome wooden slab attached.

Hotel staff are ok with visitors being smuggled in like this, in fact even if you pick up your key at the front desk with your girl in tow before proceeding to the apartment side you will not be asked anything.

"Standard apartment" is the first and cheapest Speke accomodation to pop up for booking on Agoda.
