Some annoying questions.
Your flight out of MTY? Was it domestic or intl? If it was a domestic route did they ask you for permit proof or no?
I too exploited MTY airport a few months ago, goal was July 2 solar eclipse in Argentina, dilema was airfare from AUS, SAT, DFW and IAH to Buenos Aires EZE was excess $1300 rt. Expanded search to find same rt from MTY-EZE was about $630. Do the math. And yes, joint Argentina / Mexico hobby report listed in DF Escorts that I wrote extensive Buenos Aires notes BEFORE finding out ISG doesn't have a Argentina section.

Fast forward: End of that trip, domestic flight Toluca TLC back to MTY, had permit card ready but they never asked for it. I still have it to this date.
Bus back to NL. Literally NO CABS at NL bus station! After 20 minutes walked across Lopez De Lara to Pemex and caught a cab in the act of gassing up. Anyone else have this issue or was it just me?
Got to Laredo bridge thought the night was done. And then BORDER PATROL. I walked across on foot and was taken in a separate room for questions all because. Wait for it. My passport has a stamp from Egypt in 2017. They wanted to know if I had ties with ISIS and I was firm on counter questioned "do you guys have any relevant questions about Mexico and Argentina for the previous 10 days or not?" Eventually they let me go.
But am seeing flying into Central and South America out of MTY vs out of the States is a great way of stretching the travel budget and looking at Peru Costa Rica or Colombia. We'll see.

I passed through Nuevo Laredo last week to catch the 2 am bus to Monterrey. I parked at LRD and took a Lyft to the bridge for less than $15. He dropped me off by the elevator that takes you to the turnstiles where you pay to walk across. Walked over the bridge. The station where you get your tourist card / visa and pay was closed. I guess. I figured it was and didn't look too hard. Exited the bridge and exchanged $100 then walked east across the main street Guerrero to where the taxis line up. Found one I was comfortable with and $5 later I was at the bus station. No problem there. It was lit and open with people milling around waiting for the last bus. The only thing that stood out was a young man got out of a car and walked through the bus station like he was looking for someone or something. He asked me if I were looking for something. I said no gracias and kept walking. He made his loop and then drove off. Trip to MTY was uneventful and took 3.5 hours to the airport.
I flew out of MEX later in the week. I bought a ticket at the United counter. Since I didn't have the tourist card. I told them I lost it. Had to go to the 1st floor of MEX airport to immigration. Pay $30 and they gave me a new one. No line, took 10 minutes.

Now I am on my 4 incident in Laredo. You can read my previous posts. Meet my girl from MTY, great time and awesome sex. Dropping her off at the bus station, in a taxi, in the middle of the day. All of sudden I get surrounded my a bunch of tugs, demanding to see my ID. They only let me go because I was American, crazy. You real need to be careful there.

Posts: 47NL Boystown Safe at Night?
Is NL Boystown safe at night? I know it's not what it used to be, but is it safe to go to during the night? That's the only time there's any activity. Thanks.

I am going to do something that has become rare anymore. I'm posting an actual report about my experience of a few days ago. I contacted a long-time senior member, asked his advice and he was gracious enough to help me out. Met up at a local watering hole called Bar Jarochos and had some beers. Later in the evening, some girls came around offering services and I took one back to my hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful night together. She was a nice, friendly, cute, short, petite flaquita. Just what I like. It was a true GFE. Great night in Nuevo Laredo and I hope to repeat again in the near future. Nuevo Laredo is not dead, just need to know where to look. In Nuevo Laredo as with any border town or foreign city, be aware of your surroundings. Don't go flashing money around and don't go walking around alone at night and / or in unfamiliar places and you should have no problems.

On a fun note when I crossed down around 530 P saw a USA Navy Veteran I believe with his nicely painted truck representing all 4 USA Armed services and even the Seabees. So he knows where to play safely in the day down there all decked out like that!

Posts: 2821Safe I am just not sure
Met a girl in Laredo for the weekend, from Monterrey. Uber was not available in Laredo this weekend, only taxis. Not sure what was up. Both taxi drivers said that it is getting more dangerous there.
I will continue to meet girls from MTY in Laredo, but will be very careful only hotel and directly to the restaurants at night.
