Just booked ABC hotel. Curious to know if it is girl friendly. I know Clark is better, but it is also more expensive.

Surprising, you can afford ABC Hotel, supposedly 5 star, but you cannot afford membership of ISG?. I know there is an ABC Hotel in Angeles, but not in Cebu, over a thousand km's away. The poor from the greater Angeles City area who have basic literacy standards are selected by the Charity and are trained in all aspects of hospitality and hotel management at this hotel. This has led to many successful careers. One of the current GMs of a large 5-star hotel in Manila started his career at this hotel as bell boy under this charity program. Many of the patrons of this hotel are connected with the Catholic Church, attending conferences, seminars or prayer sessions. You will come across many men of the cloth if you stay here. Just address everyone as Father or Sister.

If you are considering mongering activities, please avoid this hotel. To enter a room with a girl, you will need to produce a marriage certificate to prove the girl is your wife.

Next year I plan to book an appartement for a month. Budget max 20.000 Peso. Horizon101 would be my preferred place. But the AirBnB offers need prepayment and I am not keen on that.

Does anyone has an adress of a appartement owner to book direct? Or a booking portal do make a reservation without prepayment (as you can do an Booking.com for hotel rooms)?

Pagoda can have condos as well as hotel rooms. However, most will require payment to secure the room (s).

Why not use the hotspot function on the mobile phone, that's all I do and connect to 4 G services.

I have a WiFi router but stopped using it as soon as I got a 4 G phone. I did a couple speed tests and the speeds were the same through my phone and through the router so put the router away and only use my phone in hotspot mode.

Saves having to fund two sim cards and keep two data plans active, not that that is a significant cost issue but just a PITA.

Plenty of pocket Wifi gadget sellers in PH. Plenty stores in Ayala Mall in the 3rd floor. I have seen them work well in urban areas.

I've looked into some pocket wifi (mifi?) solutions. One from Xiaomi. I wasn't sure myself if it would work with mobile companies generically. Unfortunately, I have left the US, so I can't order one, which comes with service to be delivered. I was wondering if some solution was available at Cebu airport but wasn't able to find that info. I know there are cell providers selling sim cards, etc. But not if they have those devices.

WiFi speeds in the country are not great and hotels can be poor once full. Quest is better than many though.

OO go and get a pocket WiFi as this can be better. I did and helps when in coffee shops and your data plan is slow.

I've read in the forum backpages that Quest had a wifi router per room, and that Quest had better wifi, better than Mandarin. Does anyone have recent experience of wifi?

I've also read in the forum that hotel wifi and mobile data is not very reliable. So, that just makes me worried. I think I would just leave if I was faced with no wifi (or not go at all) I need decent wifi for mostly just general website work, but if a need pops up to do a video call, I need to be able to do it.

The Quest must do a lot of direct booking because quite often Agoda etc will be sold out but they will still have rooms available when dealing direct.

I'd just call direct and say you don't know how long your "meetings" will last and will need an early check out ability.

Another option is two bookings: 3 days cheap and non refundable plus the remainder on a refundable second booking.

Ahh, I could try talking (too used to just doing stuff online.

But that other option sounds good. Didn't think about that. I could also do a reservation at a different hotel so long as as refundable deadline is not 7 days or so.

P. S. If you are happy to splash some cash, some better room have balconies that can be put to all manner of uses 😎.
