The Saifee is my favorite hotel in Tulear. The only negative thing is the lack of blackout curtain. I had to put the bedspread over the window (which also cut down on the heat of the day) in order to sleep later. Their breakfast is a little weak, too, otherwise Saifee is ideal for this town (unless you crave a swimming pool).

Don't forget the huge gym at LE Recife. Does Hotel Safee has Aircon?

    Hotel Saifee Vs. Recife

Had a look at Hotel LE Recife today. They only have 11 rooms and until now they where fully booked. At 45 000 it's a good deal but in comparison to Hotel Saïfee (75 000) the rooms are smaller and scruffy. Considering Tulear (Toliara) doesn't have a decent beach the swimming pool is a big bonus but I'm going to stay in Saïfee. If necessary I'll compromise in areas like Nosy Be where accomodation is more expensive.

What I'd like to address is the contradiction of this place. It seems easy: The girls will say Bonjour if they fancy you, you look at them and if they fancy you back you say likewise. And then you lead them to your room and slip them somewhere between 30-50 k MGA. Which is, in United States Dollars, approximately nothing. That sounds almost as straightforward and easy as, say, Angeles in the Philippines except with less of a blatant pay-for-sex atmosphere. Yes, you have to pay but it's softer in feel.

Now, I am a soft western guy who likes his creature comforts. But if I am understanding correctly, there is one place where they exist: Nosy Be. If I go to Nosy Be, I might not get as perfect a GFE as some of the other places, but I would have reasonably civilized infrastructure, nice albeit expensive hotels, more or less functioning WiFi, etc. (I am in Mexico right now and I survived two days of non-functioning WiFi, although I would have rather not.).

So I go to Nosy Be, I find a cheap hotel right on the beach, and I enjoy my daily swim. I have our friend Google for translation services. As long as I have WiFi and the swim I am content. If I have girls that's the cherry on top. And it seems like girls should be plentiful and willing.

I do not have a lot of money. My budget would be gone in seconds in the French Riviera. But I have maybe 2-3 times what others are reporting spending. If I lose 30-40 k MGA a few times to scams it's not going to hurt me.

So: What do you guys think of my "soft western approach to Madagascar"? On paper it doesn't sound that much different from Angeles, but many posts in this forum say it's considerably more difficult than Angeles. I have read a lot about the difficulty of transportation and the often high cost of getting around, but it seems to me that if I fly in to Nosy Be and spend my trip in that area it would not be so bad.

So here I am, knock some holes in my plan and let me know the strong and weak points. If I go I will leave a detailed, verbose account with really, really nice quality photographs.
You sound a lot like me. I don't want to rough it on my vacation. I need some western food and definitely western style hygiene standards. I haven't been to Mada yet so take what I'm saying with a grain of salt but Africa is not what it seems I have gotten 5 dollar short time in Nairobi. If you're in Africa and willing to go for ST you can pay 5 dollars or less once you've been there for a while (meaning six months or so) the problem isn't the price that you pay it's the long term costs.

You say you're a soft western guy I'm a soft western guy go to a country where almost no one speaks English a meet a chick who sucks and fucks the soul out of you who speaks English. You're going to feel sorry for her.

Better to get your sea legs with Nairobi slay queens until you develop the hardness for Africa. The only reason I'm going to Mada is to deletion the hardness. Besides as a westerner you'the want a girl with some western education. I'm going to Dar es Salaam where I'm going to try to meet a college graduate that I met in a Dar MP. Because she has a job now (not at the MP) she's not asking for money (the western union hustle) I'm going to ask her respectfully if I could fuck her sister who's also a college graduate.

Mada is not the place for a first trip to Africa in my opinion.

    Trip.

I'm in San Miguel de Allende, where I gather Mexico cleans up and welcomes the gringo at the expense of near-Western real estate prices. Everything else is surprisingly cheap. Don't know how the natives manage, but almost all my cab drivers are old guys who clearly bought their housing when it was dirt cheap. The only thing I noticed bad about infrastructure is that sidewalks are an obstacle course and cobblestone streets hurt my feet. Lovely place but girls conspicuous by their absence. I enjoy having top-end dining for around $25 a plate instead of $100 in Miami. I don't notice much commentary on food in Madagascar but it sounds like there is at least some French food in Nosy Be, which would be interesting even if not entirely authentic.
You will probably encounter a couple of naysayers here. My advice is ignore them and give it a try. What is the worst that can happen? Ripped off more than expected, more of a shithole than you expected, girls unfriendly or duds (should not be an issue LOL). OK, you tried and it's not for you.
You know, the guy who was unhappy didn't do that bad. He had some good experiences and got ripped off but not enough to damage him. He definitely got laid. I think I would have been a bit more adventurous, wanting to investigate 'bonjour' when he passed. I think he might be naturally grumpy where I am more roll with the punches style.

Just make sure you pay the girls 10 times the going rate. You wouldn't want to "exploit" them!
But then I would be ruining the ecosystem for everyone else! So no I would pay the going rate. It does not sound to me that the girls feel like they are being exploited. And to me they are the proper judges. I am of the age where discomfort is not for me. I might even blow the $8 k for business class. Yikes! Is it worth it? But if that means I could hit the ground running it might be worth it.

What do you dislike about Nosy Be? Is there a place you would recommend more for the traveler who starts there and wants at least some amenities? Most important for me is decent Internet and good restaurants. It's great in Mexico. When it works. LOL.

All the girls always stayed with me till I left the room myself for breakfast or lunch.
Never paid these rates in Mangily. These are Nosybe rates not Mangily rates. Its half price easily. No wonder you can't kick them out.

    Contradictions

Not contradictions, it's just how the place is. Nosy Be is generally the place that most people think has the best infrastructure and is newbie friendly. I would tend to agree although I don't fancy the place much myself. By 2-3 times what most people are spending are you talking $1000 a month like Neddy? If you are you will live like a king. Your attitude about small losses is the right one, especially on your first trip. If you piss away 50 bucks in small rip offs or a girl that doesn't turn out well it is small potatoes for some lessons well learned.

This all said even nosy be has issues like the rest of Mada, just not as many and not as bad! I am currently in Mexico as well and if you think Mexican infrastructure is not up to snuff, well you ain't seen nothing yet. Think the PI 30 years ago.

Youve been ripped off in Kenya. book a flight to Mada and play a little sex tourist. Well these people are in for a rude awakenin.
First you post how great it is, how its a place where everyone sitting home alone can come to and get laid for next to nothing. But, but, its not for everyone because it's not easy like Pattaya. Fortunately you know how do it and you have information, enough information to make a guide, that you can sell! Oy vey.

Both girls are tigers in bed. Maybe that's why they wear tiger camouflage clothing.

They never got arrested to my knowledge.

Police was always too busy installing road blocks to extort money from the already poor population.

But reality so far is not so bright as I hoped..Here until Jan. 11, want to go to Tana and Nosy be next. Hope it will be better. Is the raining season really heavy in Nosy be?
There is nothing special or magical about Africa, Madagascar or anywhere that you need to know. Girls are the same the world over: some will like you, some will not, c'est la vie. Just put yourself in action, and things happen, hopefully good. Inshallah.

    Sambava Update

I spent a full month in the Non mongering town of Sambava during September 2019.

Arrived with tsaradia flight from diego on time. From the airport I walked 1 minute to the main road and took a Bazaz for 1 k to Villa Layannah. https://goo.gl/maps/4Axitb74iPSpLyAG8.

To be precise I went down on the main road as if Bazaz get down to secondary Road you add 1 k more. You all know Villa sheridan so its the same place as the old Vhaza sold it to local family, Now the place was entirely renovated and painted etc. They have hot water and free WIFI although the router is on the ground floor so single strength is not that good on upper floor that face the sea.

Front room price is 50 k but I paid 45 k. Since sambava is not yet connected by asphalt road to ambilobe everything is expensive so I bought once few Eau vive and fill it from the owner kitchen Tap. This is a separate pipe line then you have in your room and used for drinking.

Sambava does not have any serious supermarket and nearly no value restaurants outside the hotels. So you can go to Pizzeria Boule the'or https://goo.gl/maps/NPFhbpfn4pFNUWfw6 or hotel Carrefour https://goo.gl/maps/nSoEfrofzXi7QNfC8 or a few Bakery / restaurants around here https://goo.gl/maps/z3J8cu7UcEf9GKzu7.

There is a new Gym for 150 k per month next to Pizzeria Boule the'or in the way to the beach with several girls shaping their butt.

Sunday evening is when the beach get full of people and you can easy pick what you want although not many adult girls. Sometimes you can see girls passing in the beach in front of the hotel and they all come to your room. I got one girl as she drive in a Bazaz in the opposite direction as I walked. She went down and introduce herself the rest is history. The best way to keep in touch is to get his facebook ID as phone numbers come and go and FB has a unique identifier as physical phone tend to get lost often there.

Beside a week with that girl I spent 3 weeks with my Local GF which was the reason I got there at the first place. One thing I don't understand is why I didn't get bored for full month there. Maybe because I saw sitting directly on a stunning beach or because My girl was always in my bed.

There 3 discos but the leader is Baladin https://goo.gl/maps/iTwfHvBRTmqBfKJA9 you can follow the upcoming event on the street sign.
