OMG. Was in Phoenix over the weekend and stopped by a strip club just for little fun. First one of the dancers said she needed $10 for a lap dance which I thought. Wow. Not to bad a price. Then she said. But if you want to touch during a lap dance. It's $40 for the house plus tip for her. What? Are they out of their minds. For $9 in HK you can feel quite a bit or just a few bucks for a tip for god sake! Yes. We are spoiled in Zona Norte for sure!

If you want plenty of contact Chicas is the place. Also, beer is cheap. It's been a couple years since I've been there but their beers may be on par or even less than Hong Kong beer prices which is astoundingly low by American strip bar standard prices.

Chavelas is right next to HK, usually has live bands on weekend playing Mexican music.

Guys have been telling me Chevelas' girls tend to be less hardened than HK's, but most are chunky and heavy, more attractive to Mexican taste. Occasionally you will find a few skinny girls. They hardly do any business, tend to be more like GND, fresher and less demanding. Sex with them is more like with GFs. A few guys have gotten good TLNs, some even freebies. A guy would target a girl, buys her drinks and at the end of her shift, go home with her for free sex.

In Chavelas you can dance a few dances with the girl. ($ 1 for one dance). You can feel her body and personality and if you like it then you both go up to the room.

My wingmen crossed back all the time via PedEast after midnight, weekends or week nights up to 2 AM, there were no line. Took only 5 minutes to cross every time. By about 3 AM people would start waiting in line to catch the trolley for San Diego to work.

If you cross back at night, there is usually no wait. Avoid PedWest in the day time as lots of people use it to go to the factory outlet stores.

My interest really is the border crossing, both entering Mexico and coming back into the US, but specifically coming back into the US given the notoriously long delays -what's the best way not to be caught in long line of traffic or standing in a long line as a pedestrian.

I always come back late around 11 PM - Midnight. Crossing the border (pedeast): weekdays without a problem only 5 min, but Sunday or large holidays even at this time it is possible queue up to half an hour. Then I catch a trolley to my car parked in a free trolley parking lot. (Last trolley to San Diego 1258 AM and the next around 430 AM.).

Hong Kong may be the only strip club in North America on that can field a good lineup in the morning hours on a regular basis. Have spent my last hours (morning hours) before my departing flight at Hong Kong.

Have actually spent more time at Chicago Club & Tropical Bar on my 3 trips, but there is no denying that Hong Kong is the top club right now.

Uber to the border will cost you about $40 (varies a lot depending on time of day) and will take 30 minutes or so. You can save a bit with Uber Pool if you are willing to share with other people but will take more time. If you have an hour or 90 minutes to spare to save some money, public transport will get you there for $7. Buy a pass at the kiosk at the airport and catch the 992 bus at the stop just outside the terminal. Get off downtown around 3rd street (exact stop doesn't really matter) and walk north one block to the trolley line. Take the BLUE line trolley to San Ysidro. There is construction right now, so the trip will end a couple of stops early and a shuttle bus will take you to the border. Then reverse that to return to the airport. It sounds like a pain, but it's really easy and will save you 30 bucks or so each way.

Follow the crowds from the bus stop into Tijuana and catch a cab to Hong Kong. Or use Uber if you have data in Mexico.

Agree, but at night. You do not need to mess around with public or transportation or waiting around for Uber. If there is Hk staff standing just go with them tip the $3-4 and no issues. If not just walk by the cabs standing outside and grab the first cab driving by $4-5.

Other advantage is at night the cops probably will not mess with you if you are in Taxi or Cab.

Long time monger here, recently transplanted to Southern Cali from the east coast.

A quick questions about Tijuana if I may:

1) I am flying into SD. Never been south of the border. Is there a best avenue of approach to get into Tijuana?

Most critically, coming back into the US, is there a place to cross the border where I can avoid long lines and delays?

I am planning on getting into an Uber once I get off the airplane, heading right to the HK, then Ubering back. (I don't want to rely on HK transport for my first outing).

Any and all help, color and detail you guys can provide, is truly greatly appreciated. I promise to provide detailed colorful reports.

The critical factor in returning to the USA Is timing. Lines begin to form at about 2:30 am to 3:00 weekdays. A little after that on weekends. After that you're basically screwed. Plan at least:60 to:90 standing in line. I find that the old crossing goes fastest. Beware police shakedowns.

From airport just Uber to PedWest and cross there.

After customs and you keep walking it will let you out at a little plaza where you can catch a Taxi for $5 to HK. (OK sure you can barter for cheaper but it's what the drivers will want). Or you can get a Uber from the plaza on the Tijuana side and go to HK. The ride is like 3 minutes. Very close.

Last two times I was down there at 7 pm coming back there was not any line at pedwest. Here is a web site to bookmark and you can check it before going so you can see how long a pedestrian wait is. (look under San Ysidro / PedWest).

I disagree. I would say never mention the red light district when going through the border check point. Why invite any extra scrutiny upon yourself if any Mexican customs officials overhear your conversation. I just always say I'm going to the casino. One of my last trips a bunch of drunk guys were going on and on about Hong Kong while waiting in line and some guy was talking Trump this and Trump that loudly. Was kind of cringeworthy and a few of the guys got sent to secondary inspection.

Yeah, I've never told the customs officials I'm going to the Zona Norte brothels (I usually say I'm going down to the bars around Avenida Revolucion to drink) but honestly, those folks are experienced and a lot of times can tell where you're really headed LOL. Maybe 25-30% of the time when I've crossed late at night I'll say I'm headed down to the bars on Revloucion and they (if it's a male official) will say something to the effect of "oh you're going down to check out the chicas, eh?" Then we both start laughing and he lets me through without issue. They're pretty good at profiling who's going where a lot of times but they're not going to give you issues even if they know you're going to Zona Norte. Don't understand why they would anyway.
