This will be my first time in Bogota so I will need some help and assistance. I've been to many other mongering countries like: Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Costa Rica, Prague, Greece, and Mexico (Tijuana). Escort agencies are the second most expensive options in Bogota after the north side strip clubs. At the low end of the scale, you can pay around $10-$12 US. On the high end prices start around $100. A great number of options are available in the $50 range.

I arrived from Medellin about 5:30 pm and sailed through getting my bag. I had asked the hotel to pick me up but nobody was there so I got a taxi. Just walked outside and hopped in a yellow cab. The cab driver was very cool. He spoke English pretty good and pointed out some places along the way. He said the place I was staying was Ok but to be sure and not walk down Avenida Caracas. I innocently asked him "why"? He said "there is a lot of drugs and prostitution there". "Oh, OK", I said. When he dropped me off he asked for 27 k pesos. The hotel was going to charge me 49 k.

I am staying at Hotel La Sabana which is within walking distance of some good museums as well as the disparaged Santa Fe area (just past Avenida Caracas). I unpacked my bags and started walking South. I was thinking I would go to a burger joint, but on the way I just wasn't hungry. So I went to the strip club on Avenida 8 called Casa Show Pasarela on the Google map. (Although it might be called something different now). 5 pesos for a beer. Girl alcohol drink 10 pesos. There were some good looking girls there and some not so much. Dark in there and smoky. I asked a girl about going to the room and she quoted me 60 k including the room. But it was only like 15 minutes. Compared to a lap dance it was a little longer as in the US and for $17 was $3 less expensive. Not to mention there was actually full body contact. But after Medellin I was really disappointed.

So I couldn't just go back to the club and enjoy another beer and the show because that girl was expecting to sit with me. I finished the beer and headed for Santa Fe (right after my taxi driver warned me not to!

I must have just walked as far as Calle 20 on Avenida Caracas when I started to see the street party that is Santa Fe. Lots and lots of people on the sides of the street with food venders etc. One old lady came out to entice me into her bar on the corner (I think CL. 20 ##14-32) and promised a beautiful girl, but all I saw were guys drinking so I passed. Then a school girl comes up to sell me something to raise money for school probably. It's like I have a sign on my back or something "GRINGO".

I cross the street and see people everywhere. One girl catches my attention and asks me to go with her for 37000. At this point I should have pulled out my contracts but wasn't sure if things are different here than Medellin. I just went with it. The hotel was 10 k and kind of mediocre. The girl gave me a CBJ and kept her top on. Otherwise she was cool, but I stopped about 20 minutes in because she had a cold. There was no knock on the door.

So I go out and walk around a bit until I get across the street from Texas bar on Carrara 16 and Calle 23 and I am just standing on the corner taking it all in. One of the guys touting the bar comes up and starts talking to me in English he promises me really pretty girls and (I look at the menu in his hand 15 k beer). Well I was going to pass but instead followed him in and got a 6 k water. All the girls were anything but "really pretty". I finished the water and left.

I walked up and down some streets, got queried by some beggars. Girls seemed friendly enough. I picked another girl and asked her how much. She said something like 37 k too. But this time I took out my contract for 30 minutes and showed it to her. (I talk about my contract in the Medellin thread). She said sure, let's go. So we walked quite a distance to a hotel. The price was 7 k (half hour). The room was nice and then she starts to re-negotiate. 37 k is not enough for everything on my contract. She wants 50 k. I thought about leaving. Could have left. But it was going to be worth it; so I stayed. She really left me wanting more when she looked at her watch and said "times up" (in Spanish of course). No knock yet! Whatever. We started cleaning up and then the knock.

As I walked back to hotel La Sabana on Calle 24 a female street urchin starts asking me for money and follows me to Avenida Caracas. After that it was an uneventful walk home.

There really isn't a Facebook scene in Bogota. There are quite a few girls using Twitter. Search for prepago and masaje.

I will be at Bogota for 10 days from 29th March. I am trying to decide between staying at ibis hotel vs airbnb.

I prefer to stay close to public transport and walkable to San Fe action. This will help me to walk, use public transport or user / taxi depending on the time of the day.

Any suggestions / thoughts?

Also if you have any suggested girl friendly airbnb, please pm the same.

If anyone is around same time, I would love to explore together. I hope to explore all areas from noth to south per the detailed reports given by seniors.

How do you figure paying more gets GFE? I always pay as less as I can, but somehow almost always get GFE.

I am a Medellin vet. I want to do a little Bogota high rolling on the North Side. Can anyone point me to an airbnb building that won't give me shit? I usually stay at Energy in Medellin.

I don't know of any buildings where all or most are OK with guests. So nothing like Energy as far as I know. Just have to search Airbnb, read the "rules" section for each one, and ask the owner if you find one you like. Just a note. As you read the rules section for an Airbnb listing make sure you go to the second page (scroll down) as the rules for guests are not always at the top.

I think they saw the rich foreigner coming. Next time you should try to negotiate. In 15 years I have never even been told an initial price that high in Sante Fe for 1 hour. (Don't think I even paid that much in La Piscina.) You can get overnight for that. For 1 hour you should be paying no more than 8..

Already have unlocked phone at home. It came in right before I left, but I didn't want to try and mess with it yet. All my info is on my current phone.

I'm open to any suggestions. I'll try to negotiate more but in truth I'd rather pay more for GFE.

Oh I did try one of those that was from an earlier post. The first of the two twitter agencies. It replied they only went to homes. I could have probably used the airbnb, but I was comfortable in the hotel.

Yes I can.

99% of Airbnb's will not give you shit. The only ones to avoid are ones where the owner notes how helpful they are as they are in the unit next door or live in the same building. Or where it specifically states no guests in the Airbnb info on that apartment, which is very very few.
