The Philippines is a very strict Catholic country and the people have very high moral standards. They are religious and God fearing and girls generally remain chaste before marriage. Prostitution is also illegal. You will not be able to bring a local girl up to your hotel room unless you can produce a marriage certificate. Please do not offend the hotel staff. Remember, you are a guest in the country so please be culturally aware. Save your sexual adventures for Thailand or other countries where prostitution is acceptable.

The Philippines is safe for foreigners as long as you do not venture on the streets on your own at night. People are desperately poor, and lone foreigners on the streets make for easy mugging victims.

It is always safe to bring girls back to room. However, security sometimes hassles you about bringing guests back to room. Best way is to always list 2 guests in room or more if allowed. If security questions, just tell them she is your asawa (wife). They will not bother you unless it's late at night like after 10 pm. May also be a good idea to register them with security because they may call you after the girl leaves to make sure everything is OK. It's possible she may have ripped you off and can hold her if it was true. Lastly, make sure the girl is over 18. You will be in deep trouble if she is a minor. Good luck.

You are talking about VOIP calls using WiFi.

You can't use wi-fi to make regular calls or texts on your phone. You either need a local SIM card or your own SIM from home needs to work in the country you are visiting.

Over wi-fi you can make calls and send messages through an app, for example whatsapp.

On WiFi you can browse the internet and you can also download maps, languages for translation etc and once downloaded you can use these when not connected to WiFi.

Verizon & Sprint are CDMA technology based phones.

Most higher end Unlocked phones are capable of both GSM & CDMA.

On WiFi basically all phones are internet capable.

A sim card is required to make normal phone calls & text via telephone network.

You can make VOIP calls over the internet using multiple applications, IE WhatsApp, WeChat etc.

You can use Spype, Magicjack or other applications to call land line or cell phones in USA or most other countries, provided You Buy a subscription.

Personally, I think safest decision is to Always buy a local sim card and pay for at least a minimum ampunt of talk time for an Emergency situation.

Cannot dial Police or Ambulance on WhatsApp etc.

You can call and text quite cheaply by subscribing to Skype. I get 60 minutes of free Skype calls a month being a Microsoft subscriber. This is for a limited list of countries but I find using Skype for VOIP calls for times when any of the other chat apps are not convenient is quite easy and cost effective.
