East China - Shanghai

Been perusing ISG threads of other countries, and it's obvious that COVID-19 is putting a halt to mongering activities world-wide. But in Shanghai, more and more MPs are opening. Drove through a busy street yesterday and saw that almost all legit MPs are open now too. I haven't tried any yet, but I'm wondering if we have to show the green QR code on our cell phones, and if we will be discriminated against. Has anyone tried an MP recently? If so, what was the experience like? The other day, I was speaking English and a bunch of security guards ganged up on me, asking me where I'm from and threatening to call the police. A Didi driver even refused to take me, as soon as he saw that I'm a foreigner. I have no incentive for making this up. The virus threat is obviously not over in Shanghai. There are a couple of new infections every 2 or 3 days still. So, I'm still not ready to monger yet. Any other views or thoughts or opinions?

I am an American currently in USA and travel to China often. My opinion is that the part of the Chinese mongering scene that caters to Chinese will bounce back quickly. The part of the mongering scene that caters to non-Chinese has been in decline for sometime and will be very slow to recover. I do think it will recover and that the police will look the other way for awhile because everyone wants to make money. As for me I will not return to China in 2020. Being over 60 it is not worth the risk of traveling. To me the risk now is when traveling.

Some underground places have been advertising reopening at specific hours of the day since a couple weeks.

I wouldn't recommend going there for the reasons you pointed out. If anything goes wrong you'll be tracked back to these places (you don't even need to confess, don't forget the whole of shanghai is mapped with CCTVs so they'll know you've been there).

If you go somewhere, at least should a semi legit joint where you can pretend you had a legit massage. Best is to still stay quiet for a while...

You are right. Money talks, that is what this business is all about, girls who needs money, bosses who want money and mongers who have money to pay for what they want.

As for telling the authorities where you have been, how do you know it was in a MP that's you caught the disease, I would also worry about other places where people congregate but as you say best to tell so that the possible spreader is stopped.

No MPs are open. None of the NLO gals are working. Reports say J and M are closed. And there's no point in contacting any indies or agencies because (1) everyone needs to show ID and register to go inside any place of residency, and (2) no one wants to risk swapping bodily fluids any way. Some MPs tried to reopen, but suddenly changed their minds, probably because the local government wouldn't allow it. Even if you have a little black book of reliable contacts, it's probably useless, as almost everyone went home for CNY just before the lockdowns. I have been thinking about tying to find a mistress within my complex. I'm sure there will be a lot of bored and lonely housewives when their husbands soon try going back to work. Being inside almost 24/7 really sucks. I cannot believe there will soon be a global pandemic just because someone ate a bat.

I don't live in Shanghai but I think it's the same everywhere. Most places are closed so people just stay indoors and only venture out for food or necessities.

Have you not heard about the Corona Virus outbreak? The whole area around Wuhan is quarrantined, most international airlines are discontinuing service to and from China for the foreseeable future (Delta Airline says they will not reoen service until at least the end of April), the New Years holiday has been extended to minimize people to people contact. I am not currently in China but my friends there are very scared and tell me that many public places are almost like ghost towns.

First of all it is normal that those places are closed some days during CNY. Remember that the ladies also go home to their family. And as far as I know, nobody knows about a reopening date many days in advance. So, normally, all there is to do is to keep your eyes open.

However I wonder if you know that "for some reason" Disney World in Shanghai is also closed and that British Airways don't fly to China those days? Maybe those events are related?

Most drug stores will sell it, no prescription needed. But expensive, the price was similar to the price in the US the last time I checked a couple months ago.
