Yes MPs could they be legit or provide extras are going to ask you in most cases for either a alipay / city QRCode to be green or for you to scan the QRCode from your mobile operator to show you've been in the city for 14 days or more. And then they're going to check for your temperature.

That being said, these MPs are not getting your private info, you are the one scanning or just updating the info you display on your phone. They aren't getting anything from you. But alipay and your phone company knows you've been in this area. Yeah well again nothing new, your geoloc infos are being tracked all the time anyway.

The only real issue you can be worried about is that if contamination happens either to you or to the MP the link between you and the place will be made more public than you may want it to be. That being said, that's why I wouldn't go to anything else than a MP because at least you can somewhat pretend you were having a legit massage. In other venues it gets harder to even pretend that.

As for being welcomed or not. I contacted some MP gals today, to ask what the entry rules are at their shop. One requires cell # and name!! Another requires ID!! Most require seeing the health QR to make sure it's green. A few members PMed me, asking what a health QR code was. Here's what I know: on everyone's cell phone, there's a health QR code on it. I guess there are different ways to access it. I get mine from my Alipay app. The code either has your face pic or your full name on it. The code indicates whether you've been in Shanghai for at least 14 days and if you've checked into a hospital recently. A green color code means you are "safe. " The MPs require seeing it for entry. And, many stores and businesses require seeing it too for entry. I guess any app that required your bank or passport information will be able to also tap your travel and hospital records and then is able to generate the QR code. On the one hand, I'm impressed by the technology and how well integrated the Chinese networks are, but on the other hand, it's a bit unsettling how little civil liberties we have. Oh well. It's their country, we just live here. Btw, if other resident mongers have additional information about this QR code, it would be great to know it.
