Well since Sleezball has fouled up the forum and I don't have a goddamn thing to do its time for me to give up the report I owe you guys since all the info I got here really helped. I'm somewhat new to mongering, about 2.5 years. Spirit Air was offering really cheap flights starting in early June. I scored one and immediately cancelled after reading advice below.

June is really to early to expect normal travel and I don't want to be the first gringo who flies in from the US only to be self quarantined.

I am hoping for late July / August, best case.

It's impossible to tell without looking at existing data and making an educated guess. China had the first case December 31st 2019. We're almost three months after and they're starting to open up. The earliest this starts to subside is June. However, and this a big HOWEVER, China used some pretty draconian measures. Full lockdown. People being tracked by their cellphones. Street sweepers spraying everything. They basically went all in once their numbers spiked.

Colombia may avoid this all together if they acted quickly enough. Its impossible to tell because I don't believe they have done much testing or can do much testing. One thing to keep an eye on is reports of hospitalization and deaths there. I suspect in two weeks time they will know based on that.

The other side of this equation is your home country. The US is hurtling toward becoming the next Italy. Far too slow to react and isolate. Lockdowns are happening but I don't think fast enough.

Now lets assume by mid June the cases are in the decline in both the US and Colombia. You're still not taking into account how many businesses will be open in Cartagena. Will the Venezuelan border be open again? Anytime this year? That's a lot of Venezuelan pussy that would be locked out.

I wouldn't be booking shit right now. I'd wait until at least late May to see where things are headed. I don't think all countries will open up at once. We'll continue seeing travel restrictions for the rest of the year.

You definitely make a lot of sense. And yeah I'm almost more worried about getting back to America than I am of Colombia itself (the virus itself hasn't been as big an issue for Latin and South American countries so far but that perhaps could be due to lack of testing).

But the situation seems to get worse and worse each day in the states and my state (California) is one of the very worst for it.

I thought about booking if the airline company offered a free cancellation policy. However the cheap fare I saw was for Copa airlines. I've read that they may go bankrupt altogether soon so probably not a good idea to book with them anyway.
