I have a plan to avoid the 14 days quarantine when I arrive, I will start coughing so I can get the rapid test done on me, hopefully it works.

By July, I'm guessing rapid test will be the norm at the airport and if you have negative it means you don't have it so not need to do the quarantine. Hopefully this is true by July.

My understanding is that, although you may not be infected or have any symptons, you could still be carrying the virus (which is not detectable). It can take up to 14 days to actually affect you and be detectable, hence the need for the 14 day quarantine, especially if you have come from a high risk area. Here in Australia, people coming from low risk areas are required to self-quarantine for the same 14 days.

Of the 3 flights I cancelled, two gave a credit voucher to be used within 24 months and the other has a refund in process and I'm expecting money to hit my bank in 1 to 2 months.

Luckily, I'm a frequent flier with all these airlines so I'm ok with the credits. The only downside is that each one is only redeamable as a single ticket with no cash for any unused portion. As one of the tickets was a mutistop and relatively expensive, I'm actually looking for ways to burn up the credit beyond a regular out and back ticket when things settle down.

All my Agoda hotels were refunded in full within 24 hours.

All up, I don't think I've got too much to complain about.

I am pretty much resigned to not going to Canada this summer. If any restrictions are still in place this summer it will be more hassle than it is worth. All I want to go back for is to visit family see a couple special friends then come back here.

Right now there is 14 day mandatory quarantine which will be longer than I want to stay there plus wil cost me more than I live on and monger here for a month. (I don't have a house there and would be in a hotel.).

On return I would expect another 14 days here so a one week at home would become a 5 week effort, most spent in quarantine.

I had many plans for this summer in Canada, 2 weddings that one of them was postponed already, the other one still deciding if they will cancel. I had a season pass from wonderland which I guess I will get my money back, a group camping that so far they told me is still on no matter what, but will see. And the regular summer festivals / events I attend and also birthday parties. I love summer in Canada, but I guess this summer won't be the same as other years.

I got the same email yesterday, but I got it too late, because two days earlier I change my cancelled flights for July and I pay nothing. I was surprise, I guess since they were both the same flight numbers as my canceled flights it is free.

Even if I got that email earlier, I would choose staying until July and pay nothing, rather than spending 108,000 php!!

Where did you debunk to Turdy. Jakarta or NYC or Karachi? Please share with us a photo or two or you not being scared in those cities by walking around the park, going to shops and mosques, generally hanging around all parts of these cities with not a care in the world.

I got an email from the Government of Canada. They are arranging a charter back to Canada to take any remaining Canadians who want to go home. Cost is to be 2200 USD per person one way. Compare to 35,000 p round trip Cebu-manila_Vancouver-Winnipeg RETURN that I was looking at for June back in January.

It appears that it would include sweeper flights from Cebu, Dumaguete, Iloilo, Davao and other places if necessary.

That is a better deal than the Port Morsby PNG to Tokyo flights that are also being arranged, 4200 USD economy 10,000 USD business class.

SNIP take away message for me and any other anal people that follow the numbers is that the "total cases" number probably does not include a high percentage of people who never sought care and that lowers the death rate computation.

Just as I said previously, the death rate is less than 1% among otherwise healthy individuals. If your sick, old and debilitated, it goes up. But the insanity rate and the rate of fascist leaders who think they can take away all your liberties without consequence is more like 90%-far more worrisome than the latest strain of the flu. The diff is mostly that we don't have vaccine for it yet and it's highly contagious. What, me worry? No way.

The bottom line is two studies have been done; A cruise ship study had 17.9% asymptomatic and another study by University of Japan found 30.8% asymptomatic. Two relatively small studies is not much but it is what we know now. These people had no symptoms or super mild and never sought medical care. (People with no symptoms can still infect others), take away message for me and any other anal people that follow the numbers is that the "total cases" number probably does not include a high percentage of people who never sought care and that lowers the death rate computation.

New information out: As many as 50% more people have been infected and had no symptoms (asymptomatic) and got over it without knowing they had it but now have the antibodies so are now basically immune. These people did not go thru the healthcare system so are not included in J Hopkins spreadsheet. I guess that means the death rate is actually far less than 1%. NOTE: I want to be one of those so I can catch the next plane leaving for SEA. I see my Doc this week.
