One simple-minded but cheap method is to setup a cheap internet only bank account, such as CapitalOne in the USA, then activate the ATM card, then hardcopy mail the ATM card to Ukraine, then send the ATM PIN code by text message, then transfer money into the account as desired from other bank or investment accounts. Takes a few weeks, but once setup, only 1% currency conversion fees plus local ATM fees (typically 50 UAH, so small as a percentage if withdrawing large amounts).

You can cancel the ATM card and get a new one if and when you get a new girlfriend.

I don't mean to judge, since everyone's circumstances are different, but personally I would never send money to my girl. I gave her a big bonus at end of last summer ($2000) and she should have put that into savings for emergencies like what we are having now. Otherwise, wait until I arrive. Of course, I wouldn't talk so bluntly with her, but would instead invent some silly story of my own to justify not sending money. She knows me well enough to know this is how I would react if she asked for money, and so she has not asked, though I'm sure her situation is difficult.

No one is starving in Ukraine. They have soup kitchens for the poor, plus those who came from villages can return to the village, where there is plenty of food for those willing to work.

Weird, normally you give decent advice. Nothing wrong with sending money to your girlfriend, in fact normal in Europe and Latin America. She will probably will be pissed of you do not. I would not send a large amount, especially to a chick in Ukraine.

I send small amounts to girls all the time and have great results. I am fortunate to be making good money during the virus. I feel terrible for my friends that have lost there job.

I think it is crazy to give any girl $2000 in Ukraine. That is 10 times worse then sending money to your girlfriend. You guys on this page never seem to amaze me with bad decisions and advice.

Use Transferwise, they can send to a lot of Ukrainian Cards.

Its safe and I use it a lot when either moving money on privatbank or paying for flowers, or other things.

I asked. But she said: she doesn't meet every day. Usually there are maybe two meetings a week. Sometimes just meeting. The money is spent directly. Rent (nice apartment), sports studio, beauty salon, restaurant, taxi. Kiev is not cheap if you don't go to Puzata Hata and don't use the metro. Money in the bank: nothing. Purse: for a maximum of 1-2 days. Sometimes not enough money to pay a taxi.

The professionals (who work for agencies) have more clients. But with the agency's share, there isn't much more money left.

Thanks, very helpful. So that is approximately 560 E (70 E / meeting) per month. I just plan to get a sugar baby in Kiev after the pandemic, so I think how much I should offer.

Adding to my report below:

When she arrived at my hotel without a mask, I chatted with her for a few minutes, socially distancing her at the hotel lobby, to make sure she was not coughing, and after that I touched her forehead to see if she has a high body temperature. When I saw her the last time 3 1/2 months ago in Kiev before covid, I remember her body was very warm, but this time it was much less warm, so I determined that she did not have a high body temperature.

At Kiev pharmacies they are now supposedly selling express coronavirus test kits. I thought about buying one and use it on her but didn't know how "express" it was, so I didn't bother.

In bed I put a mask on her, but it was an eye mask. She didn't cough or sneeze but moaned and screamed.
