Los Algodones (near Yuma)

I always stay at the California Comfort and suites. The rooms are clean and comfortable, you get netflix on Tue smart TV and the place doesn't feel shady or unsafe. It also has an attached restaurant so I can get food after dark. Los Algodones is pretty safe, but with things as bad as they are now, people will start to get desperate and make bad decisions. I don't want to be the only Norte Americano wandering the streets alone looking for tacos after dark.

And just to be clear, I'm not judging the people of Los Algodones. I have had nothing but positive experiences in that little town and the people are always helpful and friendly. But. . . If my kids were in danger of going hungry I would consider rolling a foreigner for some quick grocery money.

I don't blame you! My take is whenever and wherever in Mexico you need to be on guard. I can't wait for things to open up in this little town so I can go and check things out. I'm not going til the 2 clubs and some restaurants open up though. Moe.

Had no contact with Mexican authorities at the crossing as usual. The town was nearly empty of Gringos, and those I saw were all retired folk picking up prescriptions at the pharmacies. The vendors, beggars and dudes hustling for the businesses were out in force as always, and as the only Gringo in any given block, I had all of their attention.

I don't know if this is new or not, but most of the hype men trying to lure you to pharmacies, dentists and eye doctors also asked if I wanted a chica. Even more surprising, when I stopped to have some tacos at the only taco stand that I saw open, the kid who collected my money asked if I wanted a chika. I was there to spend the night with my regular girl so I didn't ask for details, just politely declined and went about my business.

It makes me wonder. I'm told that nearly all of the ub chicas went back to Mexicali, or to their family when the bus closed, so who are these guys offering up? Is it their girlfriends and sisters they are hoping for, or is it the beat up street women who used to hang out on the corners near Hawaii and The Green Door?

I'm not going to try it because I'm enjoying g what I have going way too much to piss her off over some strange. It's a very small town, the girls all know each other and I'm positive it would get back to her. Hell, right now all they have to do with their time is gossip.

Maybe one of you guys with nothing to lose in the cottons can check it out and post a report?

At any rate, had another fun night with "my" girl. 2 months and 8 or so Toda La Noche in, we have settled in to a pretty comfortable rhythm. She's starting in with the kind of wifey behavior I'd expect from a live in girlfriend the last few visits. Always asking what I've eaten and scolding me for my diet. She is positive that eating too much poached chicken breast and steamed veggies is not good for me, LOL.

Sunday morning, I got an eye exam and bought some claritin at the purple pharmacy, but CBP didn't even blink at me. This was a relief since I had a pretty bed experience at San Luis AZ last time I crossed. It's a top post in the San Luis Rio Colorado thread in case you want to read it.

LMAO, I just read your post and it reminded me of something that happened to me like 8 years ago. I was in San Bernardino CA and I picked up this smoking hot light skinned black streetwalker. She had a great body, a beautiful face and a huge smile. I have a thing for a good smile so she definitely did it for me.

I had a weird deal at the Green Door in Algodones a few years ago. I'd been seeing this girl quite a few times and on this particular night, we went into the room to get down to business. There was a problem with the A / C and it was leaking water pretty bad so she opened the door and yelled for someone to come fix it. About 15 seconds later, her live in boyfriend (who she told me about and who I'd seen on Facebook in pictures with her) came into the room, dealt with the leaky A / C and then as he left the room, told me to have fun. I did but I also thought it's got to be kind of weird to know that your girl is going to bang a guy as soon as you walk out the door. But to people in this line of work, it's just business. I found out later that he was a security guy at the Door.

I definitely feel lucky. I'm not under the illusion that we are going to fall in love and live happily ever after, but things are very easy between us and I enjoy every minute we spend together.

I actually ended up meeting her in San Luis last Friday for an overnighter. Got to be honest. San Luis is not pretty or even tolerable. She insisted that I had to meet here there, and when I asked why she just said just tell me if you're coming. After we got settled in and started chatting it came out that she thought san luis was the only way I could get in to Mexico since the Andrade port of entry closes st 2 pm now.

I think on my next visit, I'll just cross the border at San Luis and drive the thirty minutes to Los Algodones to meet with her.

I went to Algodones this morning. I confirmed that the border closes at 2:00 PM, California time. Also, both the Green Door and Club Hawaii were closed and locked. The pharmacies are open but not much else. Don't know about hotels.

The hotels are open. I won't be returning to the clubs even when they open as long as the girl I'm seeing is around, so I'm not concerned about that.

Reportedly the border is closed to all tourism traffic. Furthermore, the border operation hours have been reduced substantially. For example, as of yesterday the Algodones border was closed at 2:00 PM every day, not the usual 10:00 PM. Worth checking on if you have a long drive or are booking a non-refundable room. Good luck!
