I First night disaster in Dar.

Landed yesterday. I'll report on my trip separately as there is some need to know stuff for future travellers.

Like said here before, Stone town is not mongering place. Zanzibar is more muslim than mainland Tanzania. Mongering action focuses on northern towns with tourist resorts, mainly Nungwi.

Adding corona to the mix, Stone Town was dead on July 2020.

Tatu was closed as were many other hotels in town. Found only two non-hotel bars that served beer:

Zenji Food Lovers and the Beach House restaurant.

Stayed at Mizingani Seafront Hotel. Originally booked room at Dhow Palace, but when arrived was told it's closed and transferred to sister hotel Mizingani.

I seem to always find hotels with restrictions, Mizingani and probly Dhow too are alcohol free and also with rulebook forbidding outside visitors.

There was nothing to test this rule with, though.

Unless you are interested on old Arab culture, want to get lost in stone town (inevitable) or like to get touted continuously, move on north directly from znz airport.
