By the way, all you need to transfer a property in the US is a deed, which can be prepared in less than an hour. You would have to get it notarized to record it. That might take another 30 minutes. All the time consuming stuff you talk about has to do with clearing taxes, liens, and other burdens to the property and making sure the bank will lend on the property. It is a common, but not necessary, practice if you are buying for cash.
