    Buying Friendship

Also remember, if you or your guests makes a lot of noise you can expect paying a fine.

Exec Talent gave some very good advices below. Get on a friendly basis with the porteiros and specially with the chefe dos porteiros (if the building has one of those). Friendly chats or bringing some extra salgado/pizza to the porteiro works great. I never tried buying friendship by tipping, I guess that's an american habit.
Now I could take offense to that statement, but I won't because it truly does represent cultural differences.

I have been out to dinner with American friends in Europe and when they leave a tip with the bill, the server brings it back. In Japan, it would be treated as an insult.

This is because serving is a job in those countries that is paid a wage. In the USA, the server is paid a sub-wage and the rest (usually far in excess of what would be a normal wage elsewhere) is made up of tips. The idea is that it is a reward and not an incentive, but in the end, it becomes a little of both. Give me good service and you will get a good tip.

For those of us who have worked for tips it is seen as a sign of appreciation and that is how I view it. I am making a statement, as an American from a country where tipping is the norm, that I appreciate you, doorman. It should be noted that the doormen do receive a bonus paid by the residents at Christmas time. It is like a tip to recognize them for their service. It does also act as an incentive for the doorman to diligently fulfill his duties. Since I am a temporary resident, I am giving them their Christmas bonus early.

I always get the names of the attendants in the Termas locker rooms and always tip them usually with a kiss on the cheek the same way I greet them when I arrive. Not the reason, but if you do not think these women do not know all the girls and talk with them, you are totally clueless. New to Rio Gringo, that attendant (mom) might be the reason a girl decides to go back to your place with you. When it is only about money, the girls are known for flaking out and not showing up -- they get a lot of such offers. You want them to have a reason to take yours. If you are one of those, I pay them to leave kind of guys, good. You make my life so much easier and more rewarding.

Now about those who have their hands out looking for tips. The question to ask for me is have they done anything for which I want to show appreciation? Most of the time the answer is no and no tip for you.

    Some pointers

Will be making my return and last time I was here was about ten years ago doing Help. Traveling is so restrictive now. Will arrive in November so I have some time to get reacquainted be would appreciate any advice. I heard that the pickup bars have move north along the beach from Help location. I can only hope to be able take the trip when the time comes and things get better.

I like the idea of getting to know his name, and saying Hello, etc. Are you saying just treat the man with respect, and you shouldn't have a problem with your guests (given that they don't cause problems).

Aftet researching the past year on this forum their wasn't really any consistency with how to get girls back to your apartment. Most of the posts of hotels do not allow girls. (I cancelled my hotel once theh told me in writing they charge R200) for guest). Some posts also mentioned that even apartment doorman wouldn't allow "guests in".

There isn't a hard-line answer to every question. There should be no problem bringing girls up to your apartments. Buildings don't rules against guests. Brazilians are quite casual about acompanhantes (escorts). If the four of you come home late with four girls, this should not be a problem if you don't make a lot of noise in the lobby, hallways, etc. We have even had a little cocktail parties in our apartments, but again we don't play music loud and talk loud.

As far as tipping the concierge, it's discretionary. If you feel like they are cool and looking after you and the building, use your judgement. When we had out little parties, we might tip him.

As a side note, we are routinely able to get a group of termas girls to come over to our apartment. Our language skills are decent, not great. We always treat the termas girls well. We are also a good time in the termas. Our termas girls would hang with us after the visit to the rooms with them. Having said that coordination is tough, one or two girls might decide not to come. If you can find four hot termas girls who are chummy, that helps.

The first five pages should give you the addresses and sometimes prices (which you should always confirm first if you go to one of them) of enough places to check out. Use a translation app if you want to check out the reviews of the girls.

Do a Google search for copa583 they have a website, it's in the centre of Copacabana, the rooms are big and clean and the service there is quite good. Enter the building go to the end of the corridor and up the stairs, don't use the lift.

I am not experienced in Brazil, but the best service I got was from girls in Centro not Copa, just use the metro to get there. Owo, CIM, anal, DFK etc are pretty standard.

    I did a report here.

    http://www.internationalsexguide.nl/...orts&p=2415484#post2415484.

For prives try the following site which is a good start but be careful with bait and switch especially for Copa located girls. Some girls are working out of parlours and some from apartments, I've had great service from both.

    https://www.photoacompanhantes.com/

I used*gparena.net*to find local reviews, click on relatos (reports) use Google Chrome to translate the site and look for positive reports. There will be links to the girls photos. I just went through until I found girls that appealed and contacted using WA. I don't speak Portuguese but that was not a problem. It takes a bit of effort.

Colombia is next on my list when things open, but the service I got from the Brazil girls was the best I've ever had.

Scroll down a page or so, someone responded to one of my posts with a Google map that shared prives. It was last updated in Dec. But had a lot of info. And would be great if you can report on some of them. If they are open, good service etc.

OK, gparena.net is a good resource amongst the other posted in page 4/5 of this thread.

Think ill be going om a bender this week and will prep for it.

Prives and termas. Hope the termas have some talent right now.

ID like to set up some per noites with some gals that know how to f*ck.

Anyone have any experience with picking up freelancers on the street in centro.

Lets see how this week goes. Haven't yet had the Brazilian bombshell I have depicted in my head.

    Cheers.

I make sure to say his name several times after the introduction and write it down as soon as I can to make sure I do not forget it. Each time I pass I might ask something about him or his family, but always take time to stop and chat. If you have spent any time in Brazil you would have noticed how the building residents always address the doorman by name and with respect. He knows everyone and everything about everyone, especially the building manager. If I am getting pastels or an aa to bring back to the building, I get one for him as well.

Fortunately, I had good role models growing up who treated people the same regardless of their station. Starting out in business it was often commented to me that I got to see someone or got something because a secretary (also known as the gatekeeper) liked me.

Keep in mind that the girl you just met and soon will be alone with you in your apartment doesn't know anything about you except you have money and will be giving some of it to her in exchange for sex. Can't tell you how many times a doorman in a hotel or apartment building has pulled a girl aside and said something to her. Maybe if some of you handled yourselves a little differently, there wouldn't be so much discussion about whether a particular place is girl-friendly.

    Doormen

When I arrive at an apartment, I always introduce myself to the doorman (porteiro). I ask him if he can help me with my bags, even if I do not need help. I give him a tip for his help. If you have spent any time in Brazil you would have noticed how the building residents always address the doorman by name and with respect. He knows everyone and everything about everyone, especially the building manager. If I am getting pastels or an açaí to bring back to the building, I get one for him as well.

Fortunately, I had good role models growing up who treated people the same regardless of their station. Starting out in business it was often commented to me that I got to see someone or got something because a secretary (also known as the gatekeeper) liked me.

Pretty excited to be visiting in a few weeks. Not sure how long I'll stay but looking to stay a solid few months.

Will probably start off in Rio and see what happens.

Created an account finally so I can post my reviews and experiences!

I kinda would not tip. If so, (one time during stay) possibly on last night / departure. Do not want to create a expectation that Airbnb guest should tip. Its their job and the building pays their salary.

However, If it makes you feel safe and or enhances your experience, go for it. Do what you like! A tip can't hurt.

Zero issues with my AirBnb's thus far.
Thanks for that info. I noticed my airnb host in his house rules said only "high class people allowed in" hahha. I was like what if I meet a girl on the beach or in a bar. He said as long as you are discreet. So it's kind of confusing. But again just hope the doorman doesn't give me problems. If so, give him a few bucks.
