Ended up out for a walk and found a little alley with lots of little bars and "massage" shops (with bars) that seemed pretty open for business.
The alleys are in the north along the side of the old Stadium near the Antoni Hotel:

Apologies if I'm mentioning something that everyone here is already aware of, but as a newcomer it seemed to be an interesting find during a time when all of the fun seems pretty shut down.

I believe you are talking about the small side street with Berlian Massage and Kartika Massage. These are 2 well known, if these are the ones you are reporting on. No apologies necessary. I am glad you had a good time and that these joints are still open. Thanks for the report.

That's good news about the Blok M places opening, hopefully the gov't will allow travel to Jakarta by Christmas. Been holidaying in Jakarta Christmas / NYE for many years. I hope I don't have to miss this year.

As well I hope my usual "friends" are still around in Blok M.

There's at least 3 places open that are drawing a reasonable crowd from what I saw last Saturday. Tavern Bar had a pretty good crowd with live music. MyBar was remodeled and rebranded as MB Lounge, and Dee's Place was remodeled and rebranded as Ann's place (back room is still closed). Both have fewer customers than pre-covid, but have really been cleaned up and look a lot better. There were also some locals hanging out in front of Obama bar and another one a bit down the street, but I didn't bother to peek my head in.

I typically ride with Ibu Gern on Sunday mornings, and I try to keep her in front of me so she cannot see my head waggling from side to side when we ride through some of the loops in Bintaro, BSD, PIK or TangSel. I must give some of the new riders credit, though. They are working hard to stay healthy!

Sunday mornings in the past few months have seen a goodly number of pert spandex and lycra clad forms with their butts wagging in the air as they negotiate the highways and bye-ways of South Jakarta, one of the very few benefits of the lockdown. The temptation to reach out and give them a squeeze must be resisted at all times.

It is a local brand, OS, but it has been upgraded to acceptable specifications, and it takes me comfortably to the many hideaways that are still available for the savvy cyclist. Not as effective as OS's iron horse, but still very suitable for Saturday morning excursions! And with 1000% more cyclists than before Covid, there are many interesting riders on the highways and byways to make the scenery interesting.

Went through Blok M on the way home last night just to see if anything was open, and to my surprise there was! The Tavern is now open, and had a reasonable crowd in there last night. At the moment it's the only place that's open on the street, but according to the staff the other bars are planning to open up beginning of next month.

They also mentioned that Dees permanently closed, was picked up by a new owner, doing some cleanup, and will be reopening next month as well. Hopefully all the other spots are close behind.

Indonesia will open her borders 1-10-2020 and you will have the covid swab test in order to enter Indonesia.

You can go to bali from Jakarta that's no problem, my friend who is right now in Jakarta traveled yesterday from bali to Jakarta with air asia and european passport no problem because its domestic flight.

From Berlin to bali is a no go but from Jakarta to bali is NO problem my brothers.

Bali is very empty at the moment, hotels are empty most bars are closed.

Bali and Jakarta are the same country. When I'm talking about borders I'm talking international arrivals and that is out untill at least the end of the year. Off course, if you live in Australia, borders are internal as well and you aint crossing thoughs.

Need a negative rapid test or antigen test prior to domestic travel. No quarantine for domestic travel.
