Posts: 2137Uber now in Nuevo Laredo
"Nuevo Laredo becomes the fourth city where the Uber application works in the State, which shows our commitment to Tamaulipas, whom we thank for their trust in choosing us as an option for self-employment and mobility," said David Mínguez, Uber Communication Manager. Since yesterday users in the city manifested the start of operation by the company, such as Alejandro Silva, who took the opportunity to use the service.

CenTex,
Thank you. You gave us very clear and valuable info on getting to MTY from NL. I will be visiting NL in the second week of December. I hope to make a quick trip to MTY from there.

Remember Greyhound of Monterrey their station is randomly north of the core of the city, no where near the Autobus Centrale. Either get Uber ready or take the nearby starting point of the Metro rail.

Entering Nuevo Laredo requires nothing, just walk right in. Going to Mty requires a document, but it is rarely even asked for, but have it just in case, it's free for 7 days.

Do I need to get any kind of visa or document if I cross the walking bridge? I will only be going to mty for 3 days and coming back on foot across the same walking bridge.
What bus station should I go to that has the most buses to mty? Senda, greyhound, another? Thanks.

Since I know readers were worried about me here's how Laredo / international flying worked out.
Drive in thru big bridge, asked Mex agents about the FMM Migracion card in Aduana office. The agent referred me to the CITEV building.
Building is 24 hours but cards are only issued from 6 am-10 pm 7 days a week.
Woke up early, got back to building at 7 am, gave BS story about FMM for 3 days, gave me a free 7 day card. Issued in less than 10 minutes. Parked car with NL friend, took Taxi to Noreste bus station on Lopez De Lara slightly southwest of town, hourly departures to Monterrey.
Viva has restored the 100 p bus transfer from Autobus Centrale to MTY Airport (45 minute ride).
No one in MTY asked for FMM permit.
Flew to Quito EC with 1 h15 m transfer in Mexico City.
Moment of make or break did $0 land permit pay off?
Quito boarding gate staff asked me to give them permit to legally leave Mexico. Showed them permit stamped in Tamaulipas land entry for $0. She looked at it. Goose bumps moment! The suspense as she raises an eyebrow.
It was accepted as valid for leaving Mexico via air. Big sigh.
Saved $25 and boat loads of last minute headaches some transit passengers have fallen victim to timewise.
Hope this info can help others exploiting dirt cheap airfare to Central / South America via Monterrey.
On flight from Quito back to Mexico City, was issued a fresh 180 day permit. Say I'm supposed to cough it up when I leave for Laredo Texas but no one ever asks.

What is the best place for me to park in laredo that's secure? What bridge should I cross on foot? I'm guessing there's tons of taxis on other side that could get me to bus station.

CenTexCrash,
I am not sure I understand you. Are you talking about the Mexican Customs office at Bridge #1 in NL?

Posts: 98Best place to stay in NL
Hello everybody!
I'm going to meet a girlfriend in NL. Neither of us know the city. Does anybody have a good hotel to recommend? Something that preferably has good restaurant. Is it currently safe to venture out for restaurants in NL?
Last question is about bus service to mty from NL. How often do buses run? Is there multiple busses running frequently all hours? Any particular bus companies recommended? Thanks.

The aduana border place to apply for free five day permit to Monterrey, is it 24 hours or close at night? I might be getting into Laredo late and want to catch an overnight or early morning bus into MTY.
