For the past two days, I have not been able to get money from an ATM using my Schwab card. I have a backup card, and I tried it yesterday with the same results. I have tried six different banks' ATM's. Five of them rejected almost immediately or after entering my PIN. Bancolombia is the only one that took a long time before reporting technical problems. I have seen locals not being able to get money, and I have seen some get money. I suspect it is a problem for most people because there is never more than one or two people in line at any ATM I go to; most have no line. Also, there are a lot of receipts in the trash container by the ATM.

Is anyone else having this problem?

I've had a problem before where my card would only work in a few ATMs, and I was only allowed to withdraw smaller amounts. That problem was caused by a bad chip on my card. My first trip, the only ATM that worked for me was Citibank.

I'm hoping it's just a minor glitch in the banking system.

Long time lurker. Have mongered all over the world (US, other parts of LatAm, Asia, Eastern and western Europe, Africa, etc.).

Have been to Bogota before. Will be back in Colombia in December for a few weeks of R&R. Need to go to Bogota to visit an old friend. Where else should I do? Candidates are Medellin, Cali, Cartagena.

About me:

+ Generally price IN-sensitive. Generally pay for a bit higher end ladies, and don't mind. Often use SA and other sites to find semi-pros / non-pros. I'm fine doing the legwork.

+ Enjoy exploring new places in addition to sexy time with ladies.

- Medellin I noticed has some great cycling (I like to ride bikes! I think I am fit enough to go on long tours through mountains; noticed options are available). And more of a mongering scene. Are there high end restaurants? Other cool stuff?

- Cali would be hotter weather. I hear more energy?

- Cartagena. Tourist sites. Worth it?

Probably only one place in addition to Bogota. Thoughts?

Artisttyp -- One place asked me what type of medical insurance I had, and I said I was with the VA hospital. They replied that they couldn't take a government funded insurance plan. It had to be private insurance only. I replied that I would pay with cash. They said they wouldn't take cash.

Another place said they wanted me to go to my doctor and get a swab. Then take the swab to their lab for processing. I figured my doc would never go for that. 2 other places couldn't guarantee a quick results turn around in 24-36 hrs.

Any ideas?

Yes, do a self pay at an urgent care clinic. Or google 'Covid-19 test xxxcityxnamexxx' to see options near you. Use check or credit / debit card if they don't accept cash. In my city there are numerous options with price being $110-$150 for self pay PCR test.

This is great news. However, I wonder how long it will take to funnel back to the airlines. Would hate to go arguing with a gate agent and get declined boarding trying to show them a website.

I need some info guys. I'm considering going to Colombia (Cali) in December. But my problem is the 96 hour requirement to have a Covid 19 test within the time before the flight.

Covid test is no longer required to enter Colombia.

I guess private testing somehow. Sorry I don't know. I haven't even had one C19 test yet. Good luck with it.

I am not really claustrophobic. I used to live in a submarine. But it was something about that windowless room. I think it is that El Dorado Motel near the airport in Bogota that is like 90 K for 4 hours. I am paying that much per day at San Francisco Hotel.

I find as long as I have a fan blowing air at my jeta I'm good indefinitely.

There was this one room in downtown Medellin, precisely, that was humid and musty and I had to leave. I selected it on airbnb just for its location because it was steps away from San Antonio station.
