First-time I went to Blackbeards and dr back in November 2019. I am going for round 2, from Feb. 1 - 4. I like the fact the resort is safe and the woman are right there, and the food is decent.

Headed down, two weeks from today and was wondering if there are any field updates on Blackbeards since the owner has passed? Looking forward to the visit but concerned about the curfew restrictions placed on the population. I know that it shouldn't impact BB but just curious.

I was there at Thanksgiving in November, and I'm pretty sure the bikini contest started at 4 pm.

There were several people who were not guests, they just came to watch the show.

No cover charge or one drink minimum as far as I know but most people bought drinks or food. I think the show lasted a couple of hours.

In my case, I was sitting at a table near to where the girls were staging for the show so I bought a few large bottles of beer and got some plastic cups from the bar so the girls' could drink. The mamasan got all the girls to say "Gracias" to me. Three large bottles of beer with 10% tax was about 20 bucks I think, so it didn't exactly kill me.

I don't think there are any short time rooms, you have to rent a regular room.

The owner died while I was there (December 4th). I had a discussion with some other guests about the future of BBs. I commented that that it should be ok because prostitution is legal in DR. However, another American guest who has a business in DR said it could be shut down because "Technically, it is a brothel". If you see the set up there, its obvious the girls aren't merely freelancing on the property.

He also told me that a developer had bought the land across the street from and planned to build high end condos. Depending on the buyers, they might not want BBs across the street, and if politically connected they could put pressure to close it.

Given the location, if BBs didn't have girls there wouldn't be many reasons to go there. I think it would struggle as a regular hotel. It could be torn down and the lot used for a mansion I guess, but then you are just selling land, and there seemed to be several vacant lots and properties around the area of BBs. One place just around the corner from BBs was selling condos for $35 k US, but the place looked empty.

Personally, I hope BBs stays open because it had a lot of fun and would love to go back sooner or later. The prices for girls are very reasonable as well. BBs ST is 2500 pesos; Some freelancers ask for $100 US (5800 pesos) and someone on the Santo Domingo thread just reported a girl asked for $500 US in a club.

Yes, anyone is allowed to visit BB. In times past they sometimes charge a beer to watch the bikini contest. Don't know if that still applies. It used to be about a $20 US salad (exit) fee for the chica to leave with you, if she wants to. There is no designated room set aside for outsiders to partake of the chicas. If they are not full, then you can rent a room, but as said it's not cheap probably around $75 US for the room including all taxes. Chica fee is 2500 p for ST, a little under $45 US. Lots of guys, outsiders just drop in for a drink or even to eat at BB. It's also a $50 cab ride each way from Sosua.

Financially speaking it is not worth to pay room fee and fee for the girl unless you stay there. You will do better In Sosua. Unless you have a rental car going to BB ia a problem. I always rent a car.

This was quite a few years ago. That day it happened around 1 pm. I went with a friend around noon. We were planning go drive around Malecon and it was a last minute decision to check out BB. We ordered some beer and lunch. Some girls came and joined us although my friend had a girl with him. They were willing to give their contact numbers when we said we are staying in Sosua. At the next table couple of girls were given English lessons. We joked with them saying all they need to know is how much, how long. And they were not going to write English essays. We had a good time with girls. After a while we were ready to leave and they said there is going to be a Bikini contest.

It was a raucous affair with yelling, screaming and obscene gestures. Fun nevertheless.

I was thinking about paying BB a visit on my next trip (late January 2021). While performing my due diligence (I. E. , RTFT), I saw that a few posters mentioned visiting BB to watch the bikini contests or hang at the bar. From this, I am assuming that it is permissible to visit BB without being an overnight guest -- is this accurate? If so, can one partake of the companions without being a registered hotel guest? Or would it be necessary to rent a room at BB to do so? I would assume that the mamasans have a set of rooms set aside for the girls to entertain day trippers, but I have no idea if this is true.

Taxi mafia in Costambar is a big pain in the ass.

Last time I went to BB's from Santiago, I used Tropiclinks. It was $75 for round trip. Some here post that they got lower rates.

The main problem with BBs though is that it is somewhat isolated. I got a taxi into Sosua and he charged me $50 each way. The taxi transfer from STI was $90 each way as well. So taxi transfer from STI and one day trip to Sosua cost me $280.

Just spent a week there. There weren't many guests but there was plenty of girls. I though the quality of girls was high. When it came to curfew hours they just closed the gate and kept the bar open until 11 pm, and the girls who weren't staying over went home.

I worry that the heirs of the late owner would not wish to own a place like Blackbeards. It has certainly happened with online businesses where the owner died. When Bruce died TSM was shut down in a heartbeat by the daughter.

It may be that the late owner made plans to keep the place running, at least until his estate is closed.

Blackbeards was for sale since the owner got really sick. Search for "Blackbeards Dominican Republic for sale" to see what the details are. I do not hesitate to post this because the owner posted that info here several years ago. Maybe the terms will loosen up a bit.

Original Blackbeards thread started in 1999. Restarted in May of 2014. I question the idea that the investigators hired by the controlling legal authorities need ISG to know what is going on in their own country. This is a country of men, not laws. Now this is changing. But from the top down. And it takes time for things to filter down through the chain of command.

Speaking of that, how Blackbeard operates (from my lay opinion only) is not illegal. Even technically. In this day in age (COVID-19) running a hotel is no joke with the new sanitation protocols. Reading the newspaper is so easy even a expat can do it. And if they did they would see any number of operations being closed for not following those protocols. The facts are that people are talking about business succession as the possible reason for closure. Because Blackbeards has been operating for years right under the noses of the controlling legal authorities who have had access to a website produced by Blackbeards itself and ISG information. Curious?

I am aware of a location that is posted about quite frequently in the Santo Domingo forum that is in a location inside of a commercial building visible form a main artery in the city. (PM for more details). I will answer you.

It has been there a while. Think it is a secret? Maybe if you are expat new to the scene who lives with the mentality of pulling up the draw bridge. (Royalty tends to think like that). Controlling legal authorities do not know where the back room parties are because they are not being posted on ISG. Right? LOL!

You do not need to be having sex fueled parties with pesos flowing as much as leche to know that a registered business selling alcohol in a back room without the proper exemptions after curfew is straight illegal. I am also aware of a location that I frequented that I only saw mentioned once on ISG and only as a question about the name of the place and location because I girl he was interested in was going to work there. It was shut down. Reason given was work conditions. Appears the owners were greedy. Holding passports of the workers and taking advantage of them. Bad owners. Investigators did not need the posts of ISG to close the place. So, hoist the petard if you like. Chicken little was trying to warn people too.

Besides, what good is a private message (PM) when people fail to answer you? I have sent any number of PMs to individuals here on ISG only to be ignored or told to fuck off. So much for the sharing of information on having sex with girls. LOL!
