Was in HCM early last week and wanted to check out the local action. Went to the walking street, but it was disappointingly empty. I'm sure there's some action to be had, but quality didn't look great. Going back to the hotel, I noticed a high end bar / karaoke place called Catwalk. Looked it up and it seemed like a hostess bar. Went in, got a beer at the bar, and saw some nice girls in sexy dress and heels hanging out with some older men. Eventually more girls came in and sat down. Eventually the mamasan noticed me and came over. She showed me 2 girls, both of which were pretty good, I picked the prettiest of the two. The deal is she sits with you at the bar and you pay her 1 m VND and give another 500 k to the mamasan. That might seem like a lot, but I quite like it as it gives you some time to get to know her and make your mind about whether or not to take it further. Also, most of the girls in there are well dressed and of decent to great quality. There are some real lookers amongst them.

Chatted with my girl for a few hours, she was very pretty and sweet, with good English. I asked her if she could go out, but she was reluctant. Eventually she said she'd call me at the end of her shift (ended at 12:30 local time). I found out later her period was just starting, she actively reached out and was very apologetic, especially when she couldn't meet me the next day as she was out of sorts.

Tried again next day, picked a girl not quite as pretty, but tall and with a nice rack. Again, talked an hour or two, she was a bit more pro-active, would kiss me and asked if I wanted her to come to my hotel. Cost was 5 m VND for short time or 7 m for long. Not cheap compared to Bangkok, but quite reasonable compared to what you'd pay for similar in Shanghai back in the day. Went for short time, again after her shift ended. She was fine, wanted me to see her again, but I probably won't.

Overall, pretty nice spot if you are picky and have some cash to burn, pretty good selection. Apparently there are also private karaoke rooms upstairs, but they cost about 4 m VND, so probably only worth it with 2 or more people. If interested I can PM the mamasan's contact details.

5 m for short time?! AND this is after you already had to give mamasan 500 k and the girl 1 m just to sit and talk to you? Geez talk about being robbed blind.

Short time is usually from 300 k-1 m depending on the girl's looks and services.

Best 2 mill I have spent in my 1 year in Vietnam. Back in Hanoi now and hoping to get her to come to Hanoi for a weekend soon.

Take a look at Ruby Bar on Pasteur st. The lower end towards the river. Also some other great bars on the same side of the street. Had much better luck here than Bui Vien st. Or De Tham. Much better vibe with no hassles.

I want to go to Vietnam in February. Which city is the best to monger for stunners? I guess Ho Chi Minh; or is it another city? Not sure how the Nang and Hanoi compare to Ho Chi Minh.

I was in HCMC and I noticed there are quite many hot girls, but you have to be careful not to be scammed. I've never been to Hanoi or the Nang, so I can't compare!

Anyone ever have trouble just walking a girl in and bypassing reception? At the Sheraton, the elevators are really far from the reception desk.

Won't happen, not at night anyway. There are security guys in the lobby all night, standing at the front doors. Now during the day you can do it if you're smart. Don't go to the elevators; instead go up the escalator like you're going to the restaurant, then get the elevators on the 2nd floor up to your room. Even in the day you'll probably be stopped if you go to the main elevators. Not the end of the world if the girl has her ID, they'll just ask her to check in at reception. But that doesn't work at night; after around 9 PM they won't let her up period unless she's on the booking.

So back in HCMC after a month and fortunately one of my regulars was able to join me for a couple nights, so this time my regular and I were just wingmen for a friend. This guy us so ultra-picky, it was becoming annoying. Everytime I pointed someone out to him, he would refuse half the time. The ones he approved, he sent my regular to go talk to her to get a feel for her vibe. Finally after an hour and a half, we found someone who was acceptable, She said her name was Lee (probably LE?) and she was slim and pretty. Fortunately, my friend was staying at Intercontinental Residence and he didn't have any trouble bringing his girl back for the $200 long time. But he said she snored so badly that he asked her to leave early. LOL.

Unfortunately, my three regulars were all out of town, so I had to searching for new partners. This time I was alone, since all my foreign business colleagues were women. Went to Apo and was pleasantly surprised to see a relatively hopping place at 10:30 on a Tuesday, probably because of the band. All the parties and groups in the front, all the working girls in the back and the guys lounging around in-between. I set up shop along the bar, got the buy 2 get 2 beer special and drank, listened to music and looked around. Of course, the prettiest girl there was already with a guy. So after a couple beers, I walked around and lo and behold, found a very sweet girl named Linh, fair skinned, looked sharp in short black cocktail dress and bubbly.

Decided not to dawdle, since she seemed to be the one and the band had finished anyway. My 5-star hotel won't let me bring anyone in late, so went to overnight hotel. There's a whole new raft of bars opening up in the Pasteur St area, but the reason for this message is that many of the bar owners are the same. Be careful if you go to Wildcats, the owners are ex Kims Bar and they teach their girls how to scam customers. I heard a story last night of a customers bill from 5 pm to 8 pm being 25 million. How is that even possible? If he had 10 drinks at 100,000 a go, it means he would have had to buy 130+ lady drinks at 180,000 each. In 3 hours no fucking way. Anyway, he contested the bill and the owner immediately reduced it to 10 million. So that a definite admission of guilt.

Manhattan, My Place, Booty Bar, Corner Bar Mei Bar are all up to their usual scamming tricks so just be careful. And there is a rush of fake alcohol going around again. Johnny Walker, Jack Daniels, Absolut to name a few.
