First time trip in 2 weeks

    Hello gentleman,

I will be making my first trip to the DR in a few weeks. I have a room reserved at BLackbeards for a few days. I was wondering if anyone has been there recently and could help me with some girls to try as well as ones I would be better off avoiding. Thanks in advance.

    Just came back

I came back from Blackbeards a few days ago, was there for only a day and change and had to fly out. Everything is normal, the girls were fine, meet some cool dudes there as well that helped me with a phone connection. They have a place were you can go to take the antigen covid tests that were accepted by jet blue when I came back to the states. I'll be back in a month or so.

He signed before John passed, but Covid, the trust, etc put a delay on proceedings. He hopes to close in a few weeks, as he has a new lawyer now in the DR. Everything will remain the same at BB and he hopes to make some improvements too. Things are normal at BB, except during Covid the events aren't real. The chicas dress and they take pics, then go back to normal. LOL The current chicas are pretty good right now. About 40 total with normal shifts, even during curfew. The weekends I was there, curfew was at noon, so only 1 shift chicas working 10:30 AM for 12 hours. About 30 on each weekend. During the weekdays, about 8-10 daytime and at least 20 night shift. The staff is still the same minus a few, no new ones. The rapid antigen test they have set up is in Puerta Plata for 2000p, results and tests in less than 1 hour. It is at CUBANOR - Laboratorio Clinica Microbiological y Ambiental..

To me, and I would suspect it is true for all here that the money even if it is a higher amount, would not kill anyone.

What I am curious about, the reason why I wrote to the original poster as to whether he has had a personal experience is that, the three other places would not budge from their 72 hours time horizon. This other place on the other hand is speaking of an hour? A typical PCR test in my personal experience, took about 24 hours on two occasions I took it. So I am little skeptical of the kind of test this lab in POP is doing. As you said, only PCR and Antigen tests are acceptable by the CDC and if it is truly one hour, it has to be a "rapid Antigen test".

I would be curious to know more about it, including the acceptance of such a test by the airlines, not to speak of how reliable, in reality, the service is, in terms of their one hour promise and the duration of process. I know someone who went to Clinica Bournigal and had to hang around, essentially for the whole day, just for the sample, apparently in a crowded space.

I returned on the 25th, so no test required. Just passing off info from Blackbeards and talking to Nicco & Martha. Taxi Mafia fare is about $30 US to the lab mentioned round trip.

The place that HD mentions is way cheaper than the 3 in the PP area on the list the embassy provides. The only tests accepted are PCR and antigen.

"Both PCR and antigen testing are available from a variety of private laboratories and facilities. The USA Embassy has prepared a list of private testing providers in the Dominican Republic. Local service providers can administer a COVID-19 test, with results typically available within 72 hours. Please note the test must be a viral test (PCR or antigen) and NOT an antibody test. ".

    Good question.

If I wanted to go to BB soon, I would send this question to the hotel. I assume they have this scenario in mind and have procedures in such a case.

Are you SOL and on your own and have to find a cheap ass hotel for 14 extra days? I am willing and I am going to take the gamble simply because this past year has been a joke. I am not getting any younger and I am sick and tired of everyone telling me how to live my life in solitude at the sake of caring about others. What the hell is living a life without a life worth living. To hell with the virus!

Well that felt good letting all that dirty laundry hang out there. LOL. Still would like to know what will happen if you test positive. Hahahaha.

Uber will cost US $3-4 one way.

Taxi mafia would charge much more. There are a few more labs in PP.

I wrote some info about this on a previous report. I rented a car on my last trip. I went from Sosua to Las Terrenas, then to Punta Cana. And back to Sosua, then a driver to Blackbeards before flying back. I didn't have any problems to Las Terranas, but going through all the small towns, there are tons of trike drivers in each little city. I didn't hit any, but it seems like only a matter of time if driving lot's, and you may be up a shit creek, according to some reports and talking to other gringos while in the country. From Las Terranas to Punta Cana, it is mostly fairly modern roads. Even though it looks like a relatively short distance as the crow flys, I guess there are not direct roads due to the terrain. I had to drive just east of Santo Domingo and as I turned east, had to pay the gringo tax for some bullshit. I think I gave them $1000 pesos, told them that was all the cash I had. No problems to Punta Cana. On the way back to Sosua, fairly nice roads, but had to go through a few small towns. There was some sort of checkpoint for all cars, no extortion that time.

Not sure If I will rent again if I go to Las Terrenas from Sosua, but who knows.

I heard that there is a local Laboratory in Puerto Plata where you can get the test results within an hour for 35 bucks. Not bad! However, I still have the question! (What happens if you test false positive) Do they quarantine you at the hospital? Do they let you go back to the hotel for quarantine? Can you retake the test? Curious if anyone out there has any information as of yet?
