On a side note, the one thing I found strange was that the second afternoon she came over, the hotel reception just gave her a key to my room without even checking with me. Got me worried for a bit since I barely knew her by then, but turned out to be all good.

Similar thing happened to me a few years back in Rio. During the Help / Terraço Atlantica days I used to stay at the same flat on Rua Bolivar & Avenida Atlantica. I was there so often the little old lady down the hall thought I lived there. Few times I helped her carry her bags home from the mercado. Anyway, once I was coming back from a day at the beach. The porteiro buzzed me in, he was all animated, smiling from grinning from ear-to-ear (imagine your dog when you come in the house and it's been home alone all day). Thought that was a tad odd, but then the porteiro struck me as being a kid who rode the short yellow to Special Ed class.

I get upstairs, one of my regulars in my flat. She's wearing lingerie, lounging on the sofa and watching Seinfeld dubbed in Portuguese. There was a baked chicken in the oven, black beans, rice in warming on the range, and a humongous bowl of grapes, sliced mangoes, papaya, and watermelon in the fridge. Also a bottle of Vinho Verde in the freezer. She stayed for a few days. Later, I asked the porteiro why he let her in, he said, "she said, she was your girlfriend. " Normally I'd of complained to the flat manager but I let it slid, the chick was actually one of the cooler ones.

Any of you OGs remember Carmem Helena? She got married and lives with some rich Italian guy in Niteroi.

Yes, it seems Brazilian working girls can be "genuinely" into you. I think they are very into having fun in the moment with whoever and wherever which makes for a great vibe and great sex. Lastly, it's not so unusual for an attractive young Brasilian working girl to partner with an affluent foreign man. Many have friends or acquaintances living in Europe and North America with husbands or boyfriends. Yes, it's the "Pretty Woman" dream.

Before my recent trip to SP, I would have never found this believable, but the fantasy happened to me, for the first time in my life.

A hot chick I met at a clinica sent me an unusual text, not your usual 'when are you coming back to see me'. I usually block these annoying types, but this one piqued my interest enough that I responded, and this set in motion a sequence of events that led her to spend every night at my joint for a whole week, till I left. She was very affectionate and obviously infatuated, always found an excuse to leave work early to come to my place. Always holding hands when in public, or doing the shoulder-waist combo. On my last days she insisted on spending the whole day with me, she didn't go to work. Showed me some nice places in SP.

Best part, she flatly refused my money. Tried a few times to slide her 'taxi / Uber fare' but she declined, saying the muito affection I gave her was worth all the money in the world.

She was very well mannered, obviously from a decent background. No tats or noticeable makeup, no provocative attire, just your regular hot chick giving her best to me for (apparently) nothing in return. She indicated she's been in the game for only 2 months. Can't verify such, but she seemed on the honest side.

And just to clarify, I am not a head turner, not rich, not flashy, and far from being a player. I am as vanilla as a dude can be. She spoke a few words of English, but it was 90% Google Translate. Note to self: learn Portuguese!

Lotus Club is the newly branded club in the same location as the old Cafe Photo.

From what I heard the prior owners of Cafe Photo split up.

One owner retained the old name and will open new club with old name in new location. Av. Dos Bandeirantes, 1515.

The other retained the old location, now open but rebranded with new name, Lotus Club -t Av. Pres. Juscelino Kubitschek, 373.

Neither are to be confused with Lotus Lounge a pricey clinica. Nor any of the other variations on Lotus in SP.

Confusing but true.

Lotus club raised the cover from previous 120 to 170 with no consumption now. Scandallo charges 150 plus consumption 150 I guess. As I went from Lotus to Bomboa I can say there were way more girls and clients. All sofas busy with clients, some girls even standing. I like the intimate atmosphere though. Take out fee was 150 if I remember correctly. I will definitely go there again soon.

So Scandallo, Bomboa and Connection are open for business now? In spite of the partial lockdown that kicked off on Monday?

I know Casarao has closed since Monday.

Went to a few boates last week. Lotus at ex-Cafe Photo location can't recommend. 170 BRL cover on Wednesday night, that's higher what Photo used to charge and even more than Scandallo. Place was empty with around 10 garotas only. Left and went to new Bomboa, which is right around the corner. Great party there with around 30-40 girls. So at the moment it's not too bad with Scandallo, Bomboa, Connection operating pretty normal, very likely even during fase vermelha now. Normal bars and restaurants will for sure be closed all weekend and after 8 pm from Mon. -Fri.

One correction and one question.

Correction: Lotus (ex Photo) entrance of 170 is not more than Scandalo unless you are comparing it to the Scandalo early bird entrance of 150 before 7 pm. After 7 pm Scandalo is 350 I believe. Whereas Lotus is 170 all night, no? The clubs are really apples and oranges because Lotus has no rooms BUT no exit fee for the women, whereas Scandalo has expensive rooms and expensive exit fee (should you choose not to use the rooms). But all that is moot if there are no women at Lotus. It only recently reopened so time will tell if the numbers pick up or not.

Question: Very interested in your report on Bomboa 40 (I. E. Mini Bomboa). I went there once immediately after reopening in November but have not gone back and reports are non existent. At the time they offered entrance of 157 reais but all could be put toward "consumação", food and drink, and they had good food. Very nice rooms on premise, significantly cheaper than Scandalo. And the manager told me the girls would accept 300 even though most would start asking 400. So price wise it is significantly better than Scandalo. The big negative is its lack of size. Its truly "mini" in every respect. So what I want to ask you is are you sure there were 30-40 girls? The night I went there were like 10 and 10 clients and though the owner said his target was 30-40 girls I was wondering how that would actually work out given the small space. There was an additional social area upstairs so maybe it could handle 30-40. Also I was skeptical that they would be able to attract 30-40 girls and sufficient clients. They do have 15 rooms, so plenty of rooms if in fact they can pull in 30-40 ladies it makes it a very viable option.

I was hoping to be able to go to Mercado and get some some fruits and pastel and just waste some time walking around. Hopefully, I will be able to do.

I am concerned about restaurants opening on weekend as I will be in São Paulo next weekend. Otherwise, I will just have to order and have it delivered which isn't my preferred option. But oh well.

Not Friday, but next Monday for example is a special holiday ("City of Sao Paulo day") so it is included. Never head of Mercado Municipal. I was wrong about restaurants, they open for a short span for lunch and dinner. So it is not too bad provided restrictions don't get worse and worse.

I miss shopping malls since the food courts were not only good value but also an ideal spot for a lone monger to eat quietly on his own while getting an eyeful of the local female population. Many upmarket restaurants in Sao Paulo are not too keen to give one of their best tables to an old fart like me.
