Being right around the corner from Help, I got to know the manager at Vanity love motel pretty well. One time I saw him slyly slide a small manila envelope to my date. (Coming from Help the girls were dates, at least that was the illusion). So I asked him what is up and he said the girls get a referral fee from the motel. So depending on the amount, a girl might not bring you to the best, cheapest or closest. Your rate also might be a little higher to cover her referral fee.

And when it comes to planning for a trip, it's that specific information that a monger needs first and foremost. That guide is almost a decade old! So much has changed in that time, and with the impact of COVID it isn't over yet. The guide loses significant value each and every year that the "specifics" in it aren't updated. It's like relying on a travel guide that hasn't been updated in a decade when visiting a country for the first time. Don't do it! Yes, there are some nuggets of advice in there, but that's greatly counterbalanced by the fact that so many valuable, specific details in it are very outdated. For example, in one of your cut and pastes, you included L'uomo as a major termas in Copacabana. All of us vets know that termas has been closed for years! If you're going to tout the guide, you should be more upfront about the serious weaknesses in it too given its age, and you should at least be careful not to spread misinformation as well, such as cutting and pasting specific information that is clearly out-of-date, with no note / explanation / correction.

If you have some very odd ball word you want to look up, for example "Mabs", you might get good results. Love motel, hourly hotel, hourly hotel in Copacabana, etc no. So you can spend hours scrolling through pages hoping to find it if it's in here.

The problem is that there are thousands of posts on ISG but very few actual travellers due to covid-19.

Bubba Boy's guide has many parts that are as relevant today as in 2012, even though, a lot of specific information has been out dated.

The part of the guide that I cut and paste on the main forum about the interview process in termas for example is as relevant today as it was 8 years ago.

The other parts of that guide that I recall being on target are security and the mini relationships.

I would like ask for an opinion for what I think is a novel idea.

Go to Rio for a month. Stay in a youth hostel 12 bed dorm room for about 5 euros a night. It's a 30 minute walk from Copacabana beach.

When I need some privacy with a lady, I will use either a room in a brothel (termas, boate, privie, whatever the euphemism is) or go to an inexpensive hourly hotel for a an hour.

My reasoning is first of all, low cost. I'm retired and on a budget. The lack of comfort in the hostel doesn't bother me a bit. I did it in the DR a few years ago.

Second of all, the thought of inviting a total stranger into my airbnb apartment makes me anxious. I am not carrying around the crown jewels, however I've got a laptop, passport, medications, credit cards, cash etc. I really really don't like things magically disappearing.

One question I have: Any suggestions for hourly hotels in the Copacabana area and their prices?
