If you can speak the language you know what they are asking for. If you can't speak the language you do not understand they are hinting for you to give them money; they get frustrated with the language barrier, and then let you go on your way.

Yes, we should NEVER let any girl to speak for us, but whenever I have been stopped by cops I have exhibited all my familiarity with the place and the language. The more familiarity and "peace of mind" I demonstrate, the less they can think they can take advantage or intimidate me.

I look at it the same as when I ask a woman how are you doing and she says not good. Curiosity killed the cat, so I know asking what is wrong is only going to lead to how she needs money from me, so I stick with saying, "I understand that". This cuts off her segue to explaining how whatever happened and if I could give her money.

In Colombia whenever the police have been involved in a vehicle, I have always been in a taxi and never have been the driver myself, so there has been no reason for me to say anything. The driver always does the talking. When I am walking in Santa Fe or around Parque Botero I have no problem speaking with the police in Spanish because I know they are not trying to shake me down. It is all in your Situational Awareness as to when to use which method I would say.

Ya think? Whenever I am stopped by cops I do not let fucking women speak for me. I speak very good Spanish but will act like I don't speak any Spanish when the cops come into play. The less you act like you understand, the better off you will be. If push comes to shove the only word you know is embajada.

You can not leave whenever you like. I was left from hanging out with some chicas and GoodTimess4444 around 3:30 am. My chica rode with me in the cab because we both needed to leave Centro and go to Laquito. We were stopped by two different checkpoints. They tried to levy a fine of 200 k pesos, but I honestly did not have any on other than cab fare. The first set was cool after the mini shakedown, but the second set had one who was being a complete dick. I don't speak Spanish all that well, so the chica was doing all the talking. The cool police officer told me that the chica was actually fucking things up talking too much shit. I told him that we passed the first checkpoint with no problem and I explained the situation and that I didn't know travel wasn't permitted. Just an FYI for people thinking this curfew thing is joke.

Yes I am aware of the fact that as a tourist we can not leave, But I spoke with a few girls out there that I know and they said they can come and go as they like. Obviously they have a way of talking to the cops. So if for some reason you bring a girl home and you want something different you can always kick her out and call someone else over LOL.

I just got word from multiple sources that the curfew is going to be 10 PM daily. Nothing has changed except 10 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. Me and my group of friends were debating if we were still going to go out there but it looks like we will be there on Friday. It's going to suck not to do all the late night mongering but we will just bring the party back to our casa. I also talk to multiple girls out there and they said it's no problem for them to come to your house after 10 PM. They can also leave whenever they like. So the key is to get a bunch of numbers during the day.

And also know, don't think you're going to get free TLN. Not ONE was willing to just hang for the night because of the curfew, but they all tried to get all nighters from the very beginning. At most, some stayed for a couple hours and initially tried to throw out ridiculous prices. Two different chicas said they asked that just to see. One grilled me on how I knew how much to pay. It seems some people are paying upward of 500 k for an hour or two. I don't haggle to hard over 50 k pesos, but paying triple the going rate is insane.

I'm here in Cartagena right now. Arrived last Saturday afternoon. Curfew on Sat was midnight. On Sunday it switched to 10 pm but I'm not certain if it goes back up to midnight on Friday.

I'm currently out here for the first time it's business as usual. The only thing you got to watch out for is some transgender people women at the clock tower and everyone trying to sell you something or beg. The women at the clock tower are hot and a few girls work out of bars.

Me and my group of friends decided we will still go out there and make the best of it and bring the party back to the house. It's going to suck not doing the late night mongering but we will still have a good time. Also I talked to a couple girls out there that I know and they said it's no issue for them to come to your house during curfew hours. They can also leave whenever they want as well. So the key is to get a bunch of numbers before 10 PM and party in the casa.

Where did you get this information from (7 pm curfew) ? I am not questioning you, we were supposed to leave this week and if this is the case then we will have to postpone our trip and go to Costa Rica. It would be helpful to show this to my friends so they see it for a fact.

My bad. I reported what I was told last night by numerous locals here. Now they are telling me it was it wasn't changed. I should have waited until I saw an official announcement. Won't happen again.
