Posts: 320The hotel will not get anything from this price increase.
Chicas do not pay to the hotel, BB will lose money because some price-conscious clients would choose other places to stay.

Posts: 27What a Difference a Day Can Make!
I just stayed in BBs last week. In preparation for my trip I downloaded the latest version of the rules last weekend from the newsletter and the prices were what I had expected from my research (2500ST /4500 LT). But when I arrived this past Monday, at the end of my 1st session the chica told me that the rates had been increased by 500 pesos! Of course this is not enough to get excited about & I paid it after having the mamasan confirm that the rates indeed had just been increased.
Now what's really interesting is that this sudden price increase was done like a day after the 3 pm liquor embargo went into effect in Sosua! You be the judge of whether that's a coincidence or not.

Hello,
Planning my first trip to the DR and I'm planning on staying at Blackbeards all or some of the time (still not sure on Sousa).
Anyways, I was wondering what the deal with curfew is since the cheapest flight comes and leaves around 2 am from Santiago. All I see online is that travel from the airport to hotel is allowed but I'm wondering if there will even be taxis or ubers at the airport at this time?

They quoted more than a taxi each way.

2. Uber is about $40-45 instead of $90. Check the Tropiclink, their prices vary a lot for STI, I paid about $30-35.
6. Internet interruptions will happen every day, should be OK for sending e-mails, not good enough for Zoom or stock trading.

2. You can bring food items into the rooms, the hotel does not want that, but they can't do anything about it. Keep your food sealed or in the refrigerator if you don't want ants in the room.
3. It's easy, no carts needed.
4. The lack of Spanish ability will negatively impact the trip. Managers and waitresses speak English, very few chicas speak passable English. Overall you'll be fine.

Easy to walk around the community, the beach restaurants a few minutes away, Jennys, and some other restaurants easy walking distance.
I don't speak much Spanish, no problem at BB, haven't had a big problem in Sosua. Let some basic phrases, like "how much" and learn your numbers. Or, use translation apps.
For transportation, I have used Tropiclink. You can search for that. I have posted about it before, and I found out about it on the BB thread. You can probably search on this site for information.
I don't remember what I paid, but it was much cheaper than having BB arrange or using a taxi. It is a shared ride, but I arrived very late in Santiago and had it by myself. Not sure where you are located, but they have a US number you can call, or you can book online.
